Like taking a trip back in time. You have to climb the stairs to get to it as it's on the first floor - but worth the (minor) effort. A real old fashioned tearoom/restaurant. Relatively restricted 'English' menu, but the Welsh Rarebit looked brilliant - although we had baked potatoes that day. The cakes appeared to be homemade, whilst the flapjacks were the largest I've ever seen. Cash only - no cards

Peggotty's Parlour is above an ironmongers shop in Rochester High Street. It feels like an old fashioned tea room. A good range of food at a reasonable price. If you want extra's like salad cream or mayo just ask as they are happy to provide. The staff are friendly and helpful. I live in Rochester and enjoying visiting Peggotty's.

Busy at lunchtime, but owing to steps up to the café there were no screaming babies in prams, nice surroundings and quiet.. Jacket potato was good but would have liked butter with it. No salad cream offered for salad.

Peggotty's Parlour is upstairs, opposite the Candy shop and next door to the hardware shop. Make an effort to find it, and enjoy tea or coffee with a great selection of cakes and pastries. They also do light lunches, etc, though we only had cakes. friendly service, and obviously a good meeting place.
