We can't say enough about this winery. We chose it as our last one in a week of tastings. This is an experience for people who appreciate fine wines and want to spend time with people who feel the same. The building itself is a work of art, showing the surrounding vineyards and with floor to ceiling windows looking into the winemaking facility. We really enjoyed learning about how Checkmate seeks to make the finest Chardonnay and Merlot. Tasting their wines, you will see that passion come through. A wonderful, unrushed tasting with Jack who taught us a lot about the area, and even told us about other great wines from other wineries in the region. A gentle reminder here that their wines are not inexpensive so be sure you are OK with that before booking a visit. I recommend this winery without reservation; we bought several bottles and hope to return again!
