Our stay was far too short - only one night - but we definitely want to return and stay longer next time. We arrived late, tired and frazzled after a long journey but, as we ate an incredible meal, all of our stresses melted away. Our room was stunning, the views from the hotel were amazing, and the hospitality was just perfect. Amazing!

The Hotel Schussel is a perfect base for exploring the area around Lucerne. It is a small family owned and operated hotel in this idyllic little village right on the lake. This was our first trip to Switzerland and we decided on the Lucerne area. After many years of travelling we now always try to find smaller towns near the bigger citties. The prices are so much better and the people are almost always a hundred times more friendly and helpful. The Schulssel was no exception. Daniel the owner and Katya the manager were outstanding hosts. Unfortunately their restaurant which had great reviews was closed the two nights we were there. We ate at the Niedwalderhof which was very good.

We saw the Lion statue in Lucerne, took the cable car to Pilatus, and drove up to Isenthal, this tiny little mountain village which we thought of as the Switzerland we had imagined. One word of caution - do not drive up to Isenthal without checking the bus schedule first. It is a one lane mountain road.

Stayed there for a night during a romantic road-trip with my fiancé. The hotel is run and owned by a couple and supported by a few staff who are very friendly and welcoming. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner and offered a glass of sparkling wine in the dining area with a view over the lake before being shown to our room. The rooms are big and very charming. None of them are the same and the decorations make the place feel really quirky and welcoming. The hotel restaurant offers a set menu (reservations recommended - within a day of booking through this website I was contacted by the hotel to ask if I wished to book a table which made it very easy) that we found to be really excellent with local gourmet food (we're not talking fondue) accompanied with a wonderful selection of wines (local and foreign) and a large choice of cheese, teas and spirits for those who like to pull out all the stops when at the dining table. I really look forward to going back!

Room Tip: The higher up you are the better chance you have to see the lake from your room however you don't need a great view to have a great room

We really enjoyed our four day visit and we felt spoiled every step of the way. Informed staff as to area activities, excellent room and view, and wonderful breakfast buffet. Our dinner one night was the highlight and we would definitely love to return!

If what you're looking for is comfort, good food and attention to every detail the Schlussel Boutique-Hotel Gasthaus is the perfect place to stay and eat. Owners Gabrielle and Dani will take care of any special needs whether it be childcare, area activities i.e. skiing, boating, biking, hiking, etc. Every room has a view that is extraordinary. Wait staff leave nothing to be desired and Dani, owner and chef, will be on hand to explain each course (there are several) and take care of any dietary needs that may be of concern to you. One cannot come away with anything but a rave review as attention is paid to every detail.

Room Tip: All rooms are equipped with every amenity.
