A perfect birthday with girlfriends

Review of De Bloemenbeek
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Oct 2021
We celebrated with 6 girlfriends my birthday, with stay at the family suite room 55 (amazing!!!) and the regular 2-bedroom, dinner at the Michelin star restaurant, Champagne and amuses in the wine cellar. Took a swim and sauna before dinner, had a fantastic breakfast the following morning- excellent quality service, quality sleep and quality food. The ambiance, the friendliness, the cleanliness and the needs accommodated were spotless. Going back again soon, amazing and all girlfriends were very impressed! Highly recommended

Simply the best experience in the hotel. We stayed a night for a friends birthday . Spa, Michelin dinner, service, selection of wine, wine cellar , cleanliness- all at the best level . The memories of the stay will last very long. Highly recommended !

We stayed in this luxury hotel for almost 4 days and experienced high quality service combined with friendliness and flexibility. The rooms were spacious and the gardens lush. Although still Covid19 measures were in place the staff did everything to let us feel at home. Of course the Michelin starred restaurant did not disappoint: we thought we were in heaven.... The hotel is perfectly located in the Achterhoek and close to great golf courses and photogenic villages. Definitely we will return

We spend two nights at this great hotel and truly enjoyed the service, the room and the facilities. The hotel had arranged all kind of extra Corona hygiene and protection in place. Our Corona proof private breakfast and dining was nicely arranged in the next-door hotel room., a top experience. The hotel managed to serve all the guests a gastronomic Michelin Star dinner in their own privacy. Like before, the staff and kitchen team were friendly, helpful and always within reach. The weather was not too good, but we had the room's comfort and various private lounge arrangements throughout the hotel. The hotel has electric bikes, which we used to bike around the beautiful country site. A visit to Deenekamp and Ootmarsum is within short range. We highly recommend this hotel for its great staff and probably the best kitchen and wine cellar in the whole of Twente. We will be back.

Room tip: The newly decorated rooms are very nice, and the Garden rooms are the best because of the terrace

Caveat: I visited during a lockdown.

The excellent:
- The tepidarium
- Most of the staff, especially Cynthia who was wonderful and incredibly helpful.
- Bella the hotel director's dog was always up for a cuddle.
- The flexibility of the staff in providing us dinner in the lounge when we hadn't reserved for the restaurant and wanted something off menu.
- The bedroom (orange Love and Art room), solid design with super lighting.
- The bathroom!!!!!!!
- Lounging by the pool area and the spa in general. We had it to ourselves most of the time!
-The location and grounds.
- The design and layout of the building with bonus points for the furniture in the halls (gorgeous wooden pieces).
- The restaurant (I've written a separate review for that).

The less good:
- The balcony is shared with the next room which is offputting. We wouldn't want to use it in the summer especially because there was a used ashtray on the balcony. This suggests people are allowed to smoke on the balcony (cigarette smoke travels far!). Also, it wasn't cleared up after the last person who used it.
- Brown sheets (a huge no for hotels, you can't tell how clean the bedding is).
- Some parts of the hotel need a dust, including our bathroom ceiling, which had a lovely dusty spiders web dangling down.
- The swimming pool was cold. I only used it once as a result, although lounging by it was lovely.
- The spa was a bit tatty with rust and mould in places but there are signs that it is due to be renovated soon!
- Lack of alcohol free drinks in the bar (but kudos to the staff member who created a lovely strawberry drink for me).
- Lack of veggie food on the lunch and borrel (snacks) menu although the staff are lovely and will come up with something if you ask.

The bad:
- Nothing! All of the less good stuff is tolerable and balanced out by the excellent stuff.

This place is worth the hefty price-tag if you make full use of the facilities. I plan on coming back.

I like to travel, due to the Covid-19 I can’t travel that much and can’t visit other parts of the world.. so.. we stay this year in Holland, the reason we booked a few nights in the country. I like ‘Twente’, it’s green and quite, nice little villages and not that hectic as in the west of Holland. We had a great hotel, also in the country and in a very peaceful area. The service of the hotel was great! Absolutely! No comments.. clean! And the food.. great, fresh and every night different, lovely wines and reasonable prices for the quality.
The music on Saturday night was entertaining, not because they were excellent musicians, no.. just because of that, they were so bad, no timing etc that it became funny and entertaining! To be honest, for a hotel / Restaurant like that, great food and service, the musicians were bad.. and not in proportion to the restaurant..
Peter?!?! Why not 5 stars? Simply because in my opinion the rooms are a bit outdated and not up to today’s standard, an old bathroom and our room above the reception / breakfast preparation room was a bit noisy, no view at all, and we booked a room with garden view! Unfortunately we overlooked the roof of a party tent.
The Spa in the hotel was good, simple but clean! we booked a massage for the Saturday and was good. Not the best massage ever, but it was very relaxing...

Altogether, the nice days in ‘landgoed De Bloemenbeek’
Compliments to the evening staff in the restaurant!
