We happened upon this little French style cafe bistro just behind the sea-front and ordered a croque monsieur with our coffee. A delicious combination of brie and crispy bacon enhanced by a smear of fig relish. We liked it so much we made the journey from Exmouth the next day for lunch. The food is freshly prepared and absolutely yummy - beautiful salads and hearty potage. A couple near us had the fish sharing platter which looked amazing. Judging by their murmurs of satisfaction it tasted pretty good too. A great atmosphere and friendly staff - what a find. Excellent coffee too and the home-made cakes are so tempting and beautifully served.

I can thoroughly recommend this cafe for the quality of food, drinks and service. It has a genuinely French feel to it: the food is just that bit different and is really nicely cooked and presented. My simple cheese and ham croissant for example was obviously baked on the premises, lightly toasted and not greasy, with plentiful thick, tasty ham, some good cheese and a sprinkling of chopped chives - a meal in itself. The rest of the snacks and lunch menu are equally appetising. A properly made cup of coffee, polite and pleasant service - all excellent, and in a town that has so many cafes this one stands out.
The only thing which prevents me from making it my 'regular' is that the front of the cafe is very wide and almost entirely glass, and I feel a little awkward at being exposed to the stares of passers by like a goldfish in a bowl! Could I suggest that a small 'French cafe curtain' across the lower part of the window would greatly increase the feeling of cosiness and privacy inside the cafe without cutting out too much light?

We dropped in for a snack and something to drink, having seen the card in the window that said in French that they were open!
The menu features all the French favourites like croques and pain au raisin etc, but has a resolutely British selection of teas and coffees. It's all very pleasant, and the food turned out to be excellent, served very quickly by agreeable staff.
We'd recommend it highly, and would certainly go again, as apparently do many patrons.

After a very long walk up and down the beach we just knew where we had to go.
Twenty six is a little gem of a cafe serving very tasty snacks ( try the Croque madam) cakes ( try the Victoria sponge) and excellent leaf tea which comes in a variety of types I had the Darjeeling whilst my wife had the excellent green tea.
The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly.
There is a toilet and access is flat.
A must visit if in Teignmouth or nearby.
