Exceedingly comfortable and gracious accommodation, hospitality generous and welcoming - Susie is a wonderful host. Enjoyed a one-night stay in Helmsley taking in walks along the river and to Rievaulx Abbey, as well as a wonderful moonlit swim in Helmsley's very own heated outdoor pool. All in all a fabulous accommodation in a great location.

Room Tip: All Susie's rooms are very comfortable and very quiet.

We were in Helmsley for a wedding and this was the perfect place to stay for a family!
Very welcoming to allow us a speedy change of clothes and out of the door
Comfortable bed after all the dancing and coffee in the morning followed by a lovely breakfast - pancakes for the teenagers, eggs & salmon for the grown ups!!
Would very much recommend and Susie is a wonderful hostess.
Great value for money and a real home from hone

Spent 2 nights at Orchard Cottage celebrating my husband's 50th. On arrival we were greeted by Susie who had the most wonderful home made lemon drizzle cake and tea waiting for us in the conservatory.
Although small our room was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable. More goodies awaited:Gorgeous home made cookies and distilled water. Bathroom very good with underfloot heating and power shower.
Breakfast in the kitchen/conservatory with the doors open into the garden and freshly arranged flowers on the table was just delightful. Beautiful poached pears, home made muesli and scrambled eggs on the best toast I have ever eaten were just some of the dishes on offer. How on earth do you make toast taste like that???
We were woken both mornings at a time of our choice by a knock on our door and a pot of tea to have in our room. Thank you for the birthday card. Also enjoyed the glass of wine in the evening before heading out. The downstairs study/snug was available any time for us but we were out and about so didn't use it. I imagine it would be a lovely place to relax during the colder weather.
To sum up we loved it from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. As others have said Suzie is a wonderful host and as you are the only guests there you feel very well looked after and very spoilt. We would certainly love to return.
Helmsley is a great place to stay. Enjoyed our walk to Rievaulx Abbey and can certainly recommend dinner at The Black Swan.

We stayed at the Orchard Cottage B&B on 10th June 17. We had a very warm welcome by the lovely lady of the house, Susie. She looked after us very well and offered us tea and cake on arrival and a glass of wine in the early evening. I appreciated the finishing touches - distilled water, chocolates and good brand products in the bathroom - Sanctuary and Original Source. Makes a change from the usual, bland, miniature bar of soap!
Susie, is the perfect host, interested in meeting you and you can enjoy chatting to her but equally she is polite, not at all imposing, very gracious and kind.
After cups of tea were brought to our room, the breakfast was very thoughtful, healthy and delicious. We were welcomed by a wonderful rainbow of fruits, healthy homemade muesli and delicious braised pears (wouldn't mind the recipe!), followed by a hot vegetarian breakfast of our choice; all served in a fabulous conservatory next to the garden.
We also had use of the study after we returned from our evening out.
Thank you Susie!!

Room Tip: nice quiet road

My mum and I were staying up in Yorkshire, a long way from home and needed a place to dash in and out of during our busy weekend away! Susie's idyllic B&B was so perfect and the bedroom / bathroom was really lovely and well decked out with cool art and comfy beds!! We were spoilt with tea and homebaked cake when we arrived, coffee to wake us in the morning and a spread of exotic breakfast selections when we came downstairs. The location is fab, quick walk into the town centre but still situated on a quiet street. Orchard Cottage was very beautiful and quaint and Susie was the perfect host.
