“Great second stay in a fab cottage”
Reviewed 16 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

The Bolthole is in a great location in the centre of Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage itself is very clean, tidy and homely. The facilities include wifi and a good size TV (ideal for X Factor!) and all modern facilities that are sometimes lacking in these types of property. Ideal for short stay or longer the downstairs has an ample living room and the kitchen is well fitted with a large table. We have stayed here twice and wouldn't hesitate to stay again, in fact we'll be in touch soon to book. The owners are evidently house proud and the standard does not feel like a 'rental', it's more like staying in someone's home. Highly recommended (the only difficulty was trying to keep our little pug in the kitchen at night).

I've just found out how to respond to these review!!! Rebecca, thank you so much for such a glowing review! We do love our cottage and enjoy our stays there - we used 15 years of "holiday cottaging" ourselves as our research for our own cottage and we are so glad that you enjoyed it. We look forward to welcoming you both back again!!!! Fiona

“Home from home”
Reviewed 15 November 2014 for a stay in November 2014

First cottage stay in North Yorkshire and we picked a real gem with The Bolthole. Location is perfect, and the cottage is nigh on faultless (door lock is slightly tricky) but that is being really pernickety....the attention to detail for the guest is faultless...you feel totally relaxed and at ease...10 out of 10 ...bed was really comfy and without hesitation would highly recommend and will be back...even our dog ( yes dogs allowed) was at ease and even barked at passers by to protect his new home!....well done!!

“What a Stunner”
Reviewed 4 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

What a fantastic cottage, absolutely perfect for exploring the Dales. The cottage is beautiful and would be so cosy in the winter with the wood burner. Very well equipped. We absolutely loved our week here.

Leyburn is a lovely town and everything is on your doorstep.

The only downside is the traffic noise but you soon zone it out and it is a very minor criticism.

Would recommend The Bolthole very highly.

“Lovely Cottage in very nice market town”

The cottage was excellent, main bedroom is the highlight, light and airy. TV/DVD in living room and bedroom, well equipped kitchen and recently installed bathroom with a great shower. The 2nd bedroom is small with bunkbeds, but this is a traditional cottage with some low ceilings and an unusual layout, which adds to the charm. Only issue is traffic noise. The cottage is right in the middle of Leyburn, close to the market square. This is great for being in the centre of things, a few minutes walk from shops, pubs and restaurants, but we did notice at morning and evening rush hour, the traffic noise was annoying. This wouldn't put me off booking again, but it is something to be aware of.
Leyburn itself was brilliant, lots of nice shops. I would recommend the bakers in the Market Square, a wide variety of pies and cakes, not great if you are watching your weight though!
Giovanni's is next door to the cottage and is well worth a visit, really nice food and friendly staff.

“Super chilled”
Reviewed 4 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

What a lovely little cottage this was. Clean, comfortable...stunning!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here over the 1940's weekend and remaining week. Everything is within easy walking distance. Trips out are an easy start. A great base for many attractions. We took our springer to stay and even though there was no garden space, this did not hinder our stay. There are pleanty of areas to exercise your dog if you are taking one. Take aways, restaurants, pubs are all dog friendly. Our particular favortite was the Bolton Arms at top of street. if you walk the Leyburn Shawl, check out the Yorkshire Tea Party Vintage garden. It's a brill pit stop. We cannot wait to return again.
