Description: The Old Hill Inn is an ancient inn of great character, part of which dates back to 1615 and the other part 1835. Originally a farm, then Drovers inn, now specialising in delicious home cooked food and excellent puddings. A family of chefs run the establishment, three working on the savoury side, and Colin, a famous pastry chef and sugar sculptor extordinaire has spectacular sculptures on display. An interesting place with log fires and beams, where Winston Churchill used to stay for hunting, shooting and fishing holidays. Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, nestling between Ingleborough and Whernside, with fantastic views from the superb en-suite letting rooms. An ideal location for a cosy meal and also catering for parties. There are many walks from here eliminating the need for a car if one wants solitude and space, and it is also an ideal location for anybody interested in the local wildlife - birds and plant life especially. We have a woodpecker family living here!!

We had our celebratory three peaks completed dinner here this evening and it was really great. The pub is very traditional with a lovely log burner, great selection of ales including some local ones and the food was top notch. Really friendly homely service toped it all off. Couldn't recommend this place more and would love to come back next time we're Yorkshire!

The location is amazing, with Whernside and Ingleborough both walked directly from here. The food I had was very good, though I suspect their v low turnover causes some use of slightly old ingredients (some warm lettuce under fish takes was not lettuce as I know it and the lemon tart had a faint but distinctly old dairy product in it, not sure if it was the egg, the cream or the butter, but something not 100% fresh). Stayed for B and B between walks. Breakfast and friendly service top class. Beer excellent too. The building though is in need of major investment or selling to someone able to do the same. Basic maintenance is about five years behind schedule by the looks of it and a major makeover is well overdue. Keeps four stars for the food, service and location. Too much mould and damp clearly visible and breathable though. Despite other reviews the prices are not unusual, the beer is actually cheap. Check the rooms before booking to stay though as they may not be what you expect.

Worth two 5 mile trips in the snow to visit this pub during our week in Ingleton. A proper pub with a very warm welcome and delicious home cooked food. None of the predictable 'pub grub' here which makes a very refreshing change. Venison, was delicious and worthy of any good restaurant, but made even better by being in front of a real fire in comfortable surroundings. Dog friendly too. We will be back. Thankyou.

what a fantastic night. Food was better than excellent. I highly recommend the Sea Bass and the Rhubarb Gin (unusual combination, I know),
Cracking place, but don,t expect a posh place, all very down to earth and I can’t wait for our next visit.
