It's a very cozy and nice pension. Nothing to object about it. Rooms are clean and big with a great view of the mountains.Tv satellite included and good wifi signal. Breakfast is served in a small and cozy room. We were greeted by the owner and asked us if everything is in order. Also in the room,a small detail that I appreciate, small welcome drinks and chocolate:) very nice. It's a 10 min drive to lake Hallstatt . Be careful on the narrow streets of the town.

The location is perfect. If you're looking for a place to stay before going to Hallstatt, then Bad Goisern is a good choice, since its location is just a station before Hallstatt train station..and Pension Maria Theresia is located near to Bad Goisern train station, it is on walking distance

Room Tip: They don't have elevator, so if you don't like climbing the stairs it would be better stay in lower floor

I guess I should start by saying we were only there for one night and we both wish it had been longer. The reception was cheerful and efficient and very laid back. We were given a key and told the basics of what we needed to know and then left to our own devices. The room was massive and very well maintained, decorated and immaculately clean. Shower and bathroom were also large and the whole stay had a feeling of space and luxury.
That said, without Google maps the place is difficult to find as Bad Goisern is a warren of small singular tracks going off in all directions. We had Google maps on the way in from Halstatt but went to eat in Bad Ischl and finding our way back in the dark was an experience.
Also Bad Goisern does not have a great deal to offer and isn't really on the tourist track but the place is great to base yourself and tour the local countryside.
If this is your choice then I would heartily recommend the Pension Marie Theresia because it is perfect.
Breakfast in the morning was also a relaxed affair with a wide choice of foods and also the offer to cook eggs if that was your desire. Staff were extremely friendly and graceful and it left us with a very good impression of our stay.

Room Tip: To be honest I do not think their is a bad room in the place

We were delighted when we arrived in this small Town, Bad Goisern. More delighted when we see the little place that we booked, Pension Maria Theresia.

Sylvia, the host greeted us with a warm welcome although we arrived early. Very accommodating telling us about the house rules and the breakfast place. The rooms are very clean and cozy. There are only total of 9 rooms, and most of the time, it's fully booked.

Breakfast is simple and nice. Very nice bread and Sylvia will come around checking our needs and making sure we are okay. Most cold food spread are buffet style and she will come around to take eggs order.

Highly recommend... and we will surely come back!!

Introduction; we were walking around the area and we're staying here for two nights.
Arrival; very easy to find turn left just past the information centre, it is signed from the next turn. Pleasant welcome, short and sweet is how I would probably describe it.
Room; we had an end room with lots of windows overlooking the side and back of the hotel, it was very large, good shower with lots of hot water (pity about the lack of anything other than a small soap), comfy bed.
Breakfast; excellent, eggs and plenty of fresh warm bread, cheeses, jams and some nice fresh fruit.
Area; very near the railway station, loads of walking routes, five minutes into the centre of town which was almost totally deserted, probably not helped by the fact that it was very wet and cold when we visited.
Would we return, yes
