The following is a review of the Boardhousing Aparthotel which is in a separate building, a short walk away form the main Boardhouse Hotel.

Although the building is old, the interior is up to date and properly insulated even if you might hear some street noise especially on market weekends. The room had a strange polygonal shape and a completely useless sanded glass bathroom door while the bathtub would leak and the A/C did not seem to be working except for just circulating air. That's what you get for the lower(ish) prices.

To get a discounted nightly price for staying for 7 nights, I booked the room directly with them although they initially did not make any reservation as they considered that a room with a kitchenette would have been more suitable for a family with tho infants and they did not have one available. I insisted on having a basic room and got it but was also informed that there would be "no daily cleaning of the room" which was basically no cleaning at all during the entire stay (including taking out the trash).

Almost every time I went by the reception there was nobody there (I just wanted to know what to do with the trash) but on the upside I did get to use the parking next to the restaurant. All in all, I would go back there again but not if I can find something better as even after a couple of months, I'm still in a love-hate relationship with the place.

Room Tip: Book directly with them for lower rates than on booking sites for longer periods

What's not to like? A quaint hotel nestled in a quiet bedroom community just a short bike ride away from Leuven's historic downtown. The annex (Boardhousing*) exits onto the Sunday market square, so during the spring and summer you can self-cater literally from your doorstep. Saturday evening / early Sunday morning can be a bit noisy, however.

Fantastic breakfast buffet at a very reasonable price (you can even negotiate this if you call directly). The owners are super friendly and accommodating. The rooms are large and the entire space is clean and fresh. The free rental bikes make a trip to the city center a breeze. Just bring your own bicycle lights or pay €5 if you plan to ride after dark.

If you wish to stay at the main hotel, make certain you have a room at Boardhouse...not the annex which is a 3 minute walk toward the market square. Again this place is a great value and highly recommended!

Very nice and cosy hotel outside the city centre, but considering the free availability of bikes for guests access is made very easy. Excellent breakfast. However, for those unlucky ones who will be lodged in the Boardhousing (an annex of the hotel 300 m away) it will take a morning walk to get there !!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the main hotel building

Nice, small (house) hotel in picturesque Leuven. Very local and central for sightseeing of this medival town. Good restaurant and bar selection of wines and infamous belgian beers. Rooms are very basic and odd-sized for comfort but will do for a couple of nights. Breakfast is proffesional lean, high quality and delicious

I have been coming to this place for the last 4 years when I return back home for a break.
I have always stayed in the same rooms and happy with it. They are perfect for what we need and service is done with a smile.
We had a problem with the safe and the window and due to time constraints I had to call reception to get it fixed. Upon on my return later that day everything was fixed and the service staff left me a voicemail and an email to update me on the repair/fixing.
I had asked for an extra bed this year and first they did give me the couch but when i asked if it was possible to get a real bed, they actually did without a glitch and with a smile!
They also have laundry and iron facilities in the basements and when you travel with a family for a couple of weeks this is a great amenity to have!
Overall a good place to stay... bad point is that they are closed over Christmas so we will need to find a solution for that...
