“Saw plenty of frogs”

Reviewed 2 April 2018 via mobile

Despite going in the daytime our guide managed to find plenty of frogs some of them tiny. I guess for the money it didn't meet my expectations

Very close to the town centre. Our guide was so passionate about the fun stories of all the frogs. Top recommended!

It is a bit difficult to find frogs, some are very small. The best is to come at 19h 19h30 because most of them live during the night.
Although pricy, Remember that you will probably not see any of them in the park.

The frogs are great but be prepared for searching. They are in glass terrariums and they like to hide. Many (most) are also nocturnal. We saw several with a very knowledgeable guide in an afternoon and visited their butterfly exhibit which was super abundant. On the same ticket, you can come back at night to see the nocturnal frogs. So we returned the next night, borrowed flashlights from the front desk and had fun searching the terrariums for the amazing and colorful frogs. We went on three naturalist guided hikes and only saw one sleeping frog. This place really allows you to see them if you do a bit of work and you’re up close. But if you want to see the butterflies, go during the day too.

After driving all morning from Aernal to Monteverde, we were looking for something to do in town for the afternoon. We decided to check out the Frog Pond and it was Fantastic!!
We did the butterfly garden and frog tour combo. Jose was our tour guide and he was great. Super knowledgeable and was invested in making it enjoyable for us. We learned more about butterflies than I thought possible. The frog pond was not only educational but fun. It was a cool competition to see how many frogs you could find in each exhibit. We had such a great time, we cameback in the evening to look at them at night as many of the frogs are more active then.

Highly Recommended!
