We had a very good dinner with good service. However shortly before we were finished eat 2 large groups arrived in this not very large restaurant. Things changed at that point as the small wait staff had a difficult time taking care of the customers. Fortunately we were almost finished eating so we were taken care of except for paying. I followed the lead of another patron and went to the bar and asked for my check. I had to let them know what table Inwas sitting at and what I had to eat. Then they couldn't process my credit card so I had to pay them cash. All that being said we went back the next night because the food was very good. Unfortunately they were closed. We figured they were worn out from the night before and made enough money then that the didn't need to open the next night.

Had my birthday fruits de mer which the rest of the family had to endure :-).
It was quite cool and breeze so most people sat inside, but the small terrace is quite attractive and there is no traffic.
Things got off to a bad start when we sat waiting 20 minutes before we finally got a drink - well it was my birthday. After that the food order was taken quickly and out came the bread and a delicious mackerel pate which even my wife enjoyed and she is not a fishy person. The food came reasonable quickly. The beef and chicken dishes were fine, the fruits de mer for one was lovely.
A shorter lunchtime specials menu is available and on passing on other days this place does get very busy so I would advise booking.

Firstly the service is excellent. That's what we like in these French restaurants, family owned or operated places.

Food is great. We had mussels, Plateau de Fruits de Mer, and both were great.

When the weather is nice, there is a small terrace.

We tried the restaurant due to the good reviews and no. 1 on Trip Advisor. The restaurant was busy but we had booked. We were shown upstairs, to a small, cramped room with no ambiance. We waited 20 minutes for orders to be taken, even drinks. The food was extremely disappointing. The prawns and crab mayonnaise were OK but with little prep (ie. crab on a plate with tasteless mayonnaise). our two children came off worse, with one having fish and chips, evidently straight from a packet in the freezer (in a port town!!) and the other having moules mariniere that was completely dry with no sauce.
This was a short meal - we didn't stay for coffee or dessert as the staff proceeded to clean and set up all the tables around us.
After eating twice in Port-en-Bessin and having 2 bad meals, we did not come back. The food we experienced and the service were poor to mediocre and seem to be just set up to exploit tourists.

Nice small restaurant in minor street but really only few (apprx 5) steps from the port. Nice short menu from local specials, muscles, fish... Nice and fast service, comparing to other restaurants in the area with good language skills a smile on their face. :) for lunch it is better come around 12, as in half an hour it will be full inside. :)
