Ok so the apartments are at the top of quite a steep hill... not ideal for walking in the heat. But it’s worth it for the views, and you can easily get a taxi up if you’re not up for walking it.

We had a top floor double room with sea views. It was basic, but clean. And it came with free air con, which is always a bonus! It had quite a comfortable double bed, a fridge with small freezer, a toastie machine and a hair dryer. There were cups, but no kettle which was a shame.

The bathroom was basic, with a decent shower. There was a decent bit of wardrobe space, and a safe with a key.

The shared balcony was a good size, with a table and two chairs for each apartment, and a seating area round the side. There was even a working cross trainer on the side! (Not that we used that!)

The place was clean and tidy. Overall it was really good value for money considering it’s right at the start of the main strip in Lassi.

It’s only a 5 minute downhill walk to the street, or you can take a left and walk 5 mins to a new pool bar that is up and running. As the apartment doesn’t have its own pool, this pool bar is really handy.

Another 10 minutes further in that direction and you’ll come to Logos grand view pool bar, which is amazing.

The staff we came across here were helpful and friendly. I’d quite happily stay here again, as a base to explore Lassi and Argostoli.

The rigorous uphill trek to Sunshine Resort that people mention in their reviews actually was one of the main reasons we decided to stay here in the first place. We didn't want to be in a busy, bustling, or touristy area, and after seeing what the main hotel areas of Lassi were like, we were even happier with our choice to stay off the beaten path. The other reasons were the price (very reasonable) and the views (among the best we have had at a hotel anywhere in Greece).

The rooms are basic but comfortable and spotlessly clean.

We initially were shown a room on the second level when we arrived, but we thought it was too small (we had just spent two nights in a cramped room in Argostoli, and were hoping for a larger space). We asked the fellow who gave us our key if a larger room was available. He didn't speak much English, and wasn't sure he understood our request, so he telephoned the owner and gave me the phone so I could tell her what we were hoping for. She in turn gave him some instructions and he showed us two other available rooms, one of which was a spacious 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom studio on the top floor. It was ideal and we took that one -- for a higher but still reasonable rate compared to what we would have paid for the single bedroom --even though some maintenance work was still being done on the master bedroom. We were only going to use it to store our luggage and spread out our clothing, etc., and to use the more spacious en suite bathroom, so we didn't mind that the door, headboard and some other fixtures were being repaired (they were fixed the next day).

The room had a kitchenette facility with everything we would have needed to prepare meals, but we used only the kettle to make coffee in the morning to accompany bread, fruit and other items we had purchased for our daily breakfasts. We would eat our breakfast on the veranda (there was a bistro-style table and two chairs outside each room) so we could enjoy the amazing panoramic views. We would sit there again in the evening, drinking some wine while watching the brilliant sunsets.

The master bedroom had its own balcony, which was the perfect spot for drying towels and clothes we had washed. And if we kept the balcony door open, as well as the door to our room, a nice breeze would pass through our room and keep it feeling cool.

Just around the corner from our room, on the side of the building, was a large sitting area with a sectional sofa, a pair of sun loungers, and a table and chairs. The large terrace in front of the hotel building was equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas.

We spent four nights here and wished we could have stayed a few more because we really enjoyed the room and its views.

The only downside to Sunshine Resort is the hilltop location. We're avid walkers, so we didn't mind making the uphill climb ourselves (in fact, we have stayed in places where the hills were even steeper and more arduous to walk). But we could see how the walk would be gruelling for anyone not in shape or not used to walking -- especially since there are dozens of stairs to climb on the hotel property once you have made it up the road. However, this won't be an issue for anyone planning to hire a vehicle during their stay.

We would recommend Sunshine Resort to people seeking basic, budget-friendly accommodations in a quiet area.

We really enjoyed our stay here, room was clean and serviced everyday and in a good location to explore. Had everything you need - bed, shower, fridge, kettle! Price was worth it for the views alone! Would recommend hiring a car as it would be a bit of a trek to get to the beaches and tavernas with the hills, worth it to explore the island anyway. But still not a problem if you don’t, as long as you’re fit and don’t mind a bit of walking. No reception but they were there to meet us on time with the keys, despite us turning up at 11pm. For cheap accommodation for a couple it was absolutely ideal, we had a great stay and I can’t recommend it enough.

We stayed for three nights in a family-sized room with a balcony with my husband, two children and my mom. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for breakfasts, which we would eat in the morning before heading out for the day. There's a mini supermarket near the turnoff for the hotel, which is fully stocked with everything you could need. The balcony overlooked Lassi and into the neighboring peninsula of Lixouri. The sunsets were spectacular. The location was perfect for exploring the island by car as it's not far from the main roads and only a 5-minute drive into the main town of Argostoli. The little town of Lassi had a row of restaurants and shops, which is easily accessible by foot, though it's a good somewhat steep walk. If you plan on walking in the evening, bring a flashlight or use your cell phone's flashlight. My only complaint is that the towels were very hard and thin.

It's a very steep walk to the hotel which was really hard going, but the view makes up for it. Probably the best view I've had from a room and the sun sets in front of you in the bay. Room cleaned daily to a high standard. Air con and two double rooms with two bathrooms. Lovely helpful staff but visits sporadic - means we only saw someone once or twice in the 6 days we were there.

Room tip: The best views are from the second floor
