My wife and I, together with another couple (friends of ours) stayed at the Grand Hotel Due Golfi for the New Year. The hotel offered a special 4-night package for the New Year celebrations on half-board, including New Year's Eve dinner and New Year's Day lunch, and it really was fantastic. We were really happy with the service and the entertainment provided, particularly the guy with the guitar who sang classic Napolitan songs during dinner and who was really a great performer.

The hotel is perched on the Sant' Agata hill and overlooks Sorrento and the Gulf of Naples. The Vesuvius volcano was visible from our rooms. I would recommend paying a little extra to have a room with a sea-view because, believe me, it's worth it.

As I've said, we really enjoyed our stay. The staff were simply excellent. Hardly ever have I stayed in a hotel where everybody was really that nice and friendly. Of course, as Maltese, we find it easy to get on well with our Italian neighbours but honestly the receptionists, the barman, as well as Angelo and all of his staff at the restaurant were really sweet and helpful. There was nothing to complain about the food...it was simply amazing.

The hotel offers a regular shuttle service to Sorrento (a 15-min drive away) which we used and found to be good and reliable. The hotel is suitably located to visit Napoli, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. A car would be recommended (hotel offers free parking) although there are many possibilities to tour around by public transport from Sorrento.

Best regards to everybody at the Grand Hotel Due Golfi. May you have a wonderful 2018!

We stayed here the summer and could not fault the food, service and rooms. Staff seemed to be everywhere but not obtrusive. Restaurant was lovely and waiting staff were really well drilled in silver service. My mum ordered a fish dish in the restaurant one night and didn't really like it. The head waiter noticed her not eating and did not hesitate to organise something else for her to eat with minimal fuss.
We did find it a little odd that the gorgeous outdoor area with bar and pool were closed every night. I think one of the nights, there was a banquet that we were not there for downstairs but other than that, doesn't seem to be used unless it is a special occasion. Would have been lovely after a hot day out sightseeing to have a dip and a drink but signs were up by the time we made it downstairs.

Room tip: a room with a view over the bay is a must

This hotel has the best views you could wish for as we requested a sea view room and wow we got the most incredible views over sorrento you could wish for.
Overall we had a fantastic break and even though we were quite a way up the mountain, we found it very easy to get around as the hotel provides a regular shuttle bus service into sorrento driven by Giovanni who was just great and provided an excellent service up and down the mountain, he deserves a medal.
We booked our own trips with the local tourist offices and found this very easy to arrange as the trips were half the price of our tour operator, also the staff on reception were always willing to offer advice and guidance on how to get around.
All the staff at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful and always had the time to have a conversation with us.
The hotel has beautiful decor and is extremely clean with a fantastic pool although we did not go in it as this time of the year it is a little chilly and not heated.
There is only one small negative which stopped us giving it the full 5 stars is that we were a little disappointed with the evening food and expected better quality for a 4 star hotel as we found it a little bland.
We would still most definitely recommend this hotel just to experience the views and the excellent outdoor area and when we do go back to sorrento, which we definitely will, we would use the Grand Hotel Due Golfi again.

We are staying here for 7 nights. It’s been perfect! The weather has been lovely, not too hot, not too cold. The staff at the hotel have been fabulous, they won’t settle until everything is perfect. Our room is cleaned and bedding is changed daily. The food is delicious and served to an excellent standard. There is a free shuttle bus which takes you into Sorrento itself, running on a daily basis. I honestly could not recommend a nicer hotel. Such an amazing experience with wonderful people to share memories with.

The hotel is located up in the hills above Sorrento and offers fantastic views across the town.
The rooms are well appointed and the beds comfortable (ask for a room with a balcony and sea view)
The courtesy bust into Sorrento is a great service but must be booked.
Breakfast is a buffet with a good selection of items. We had lunch twice and the food was excellent however the one evening we chose to eat in the hotel the food was not so good.
Bar service was a little slow and on occasions we struggled to find staff to serve us, the reception team however were great and exceedingly helpful.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend the hotel
