“Couldn't wait to come home!”
Reviewed 24 February 2012

We went to the golden Taurus in June...

If you want to get up at 6am to get a sunbed, then go here!
Lots of variety with food, but bland, nothing seemed to go with anything either!
Que's for the restaurant were a problem , questionable "all inclusive"
The cocktails had no alcohol in them,
The guy who was running the pool side bar was adding drinks onto our bill, so if I had one coke, he'd print that I had 3.
One restaurant was same old same old! Kids club the best thing about this holiday, when it rains ( which it did ALOT) the hotels idea of entertainment is to stick a DVD on! Spent many days bored, as nowhere to walk too.
Would never go back!

had a 4 day break on my own in early october. bit concerned when i realised it was basically geared 90% towards children(ie. entertainment, facilities etc)some reviews almost labelled it a posh butlins, with kids very much in abundance!neednt have worried off season as children were in the minority, apart from pre-school little ones and a few older ones, who really should have been in school.love children, but dont like to be over-run with them when i go away for a peaceful break!mainly french and german older couples at hotel,i was possibly the only brit. as i never heard a british voice in all my stay, which was a bit of a shame, but i chatted to variuos british people i came across on my travels around the area!this hotel is absolutely lovely!immaculately clean in all areas, and has abundant and excellent facilities.i found the food very good, and i did not struggle for choice even though i am vegetarian.might be a bit bland for some though- brilliant for the price paid for the holiday i must say.bit stunned and taken back by the size of the complex when i arrived, but the staff were very welcoming and helpful.e-mailed the hotel before i left home to request a high room, quiet with balcony and sea view, and they gave me 826- wonderfull, wonderfull!double bed to myself, quiet, spotless, tv, with 3 english channels(bbc1 itv and bbc world news)so i didnt feel quite so abandened by the english language!!the view from the balcony was fantastic, with sea to the left and mountains to the right.the hotel is a ten minute walk to pineda, one way and 15 mins to calella the other, but is a lovely walk along the beach path.weather fantastic 26- 34degreesexcellent transfer with atob transfers through travel republic- was walking into hotel an hour after stepping off plane- unheard off- thank you mr bean! you know who you are...

Room Tip: prepare yourself for a BIG hotel- has a busy side and quiet side. they are very good with honouring...

We stayed at this hotel in June 2011 for two weeks.
The room was nice overlooking the pool and had sea views. Family suites are over three levels so not too bad, the higher floors are just standard rooms. The maid visited daily and left fresh towels as we needed them. There are two main pools one either side of the building, one was always much busier than the other and the only reason that i could see for this was because the sun hit that side of the building first. We often went to the beach first thing thing then back to the less busier side in the afternoon and didnt struggle to get a sunbed. pools are cold but if you get nice weather thats not a problem. we had not so good weather for our first week and the indoor pool saved the day with the kids. this was also a bit cold but kids didnt mind so much. There arel a couple of shops just outside the hotel which are quite a bit cheaper than the shop in the hotel. Entertainment was good and the food was also good. There was a big range to choose from and also there was theme nights occasionally. The beach was just across the road from the hotel. There is a train line running along the beach but i can honestly say that it didnt cause any problems for us, infact my youngest quite liked to see the train go by. I havent really got any real negatives about this holiday except our weather wasnt brilliant!! but cant really blame hotel for that. People we met there did say that they went later in the year and it was quite a bit busier so bare that in mind when choosing when to travel. Main Tip ; buy from shops outside hotel and have fun at this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We had 3 kids and 2 adults in family suite and it wasnt huge but perfectly fine. ages of kids were 1...

We spent our holiday, 11 nights with half broad from 12 till 23 august at Golden Taurus Resort Park. The hotel is good, excellent for family with kids. The food is very good and great variety. The breakfast also good and variety but tipical english food and the same food every day. I don't recomand to choose all inclusive ( it's a very bad choice - you have to pay half price for the drinks ).
The hotel is next to the beach, not very close to the train station about 20 minutes walk. The staff is good, especially for kids. The miniclub is ok, the minidisco is great. Our one year old son enjoyed minidisco.
Bad points For meals -it can get busy around meal times (you should go early or late as there are less people); For swimming pool you have to get up early ( about 6 o'clock to grab sunbeds or rather umbrellas )- but the beach is excellent.
The area is very bad. You don't have much to do or see outside the resort.
Excellent hotel for familly with kids for a quite holiday.

Room Tip: "quit room away from entertaiment area and if it's possible with swimming pool view"...

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights beginning of October. We had been staying with family in the south of France and decided to visit Spain. We called at the Taurus and there was rooms available which we got for a great price. £230ish for 2 adults and 1 child with full board which we were impressed with. Even got a pool view with a bit of a sea view. The pools were great and my son really enjoyed himself. Rooms were average, we had 2 single beds in one room and a double bed in the other. Biggest let down was that there was no sofa or mini fridge so we couldn't really sit anywhere comfortably when the little one went to bed. The weather was gorgeous on a night though so we could sit on the balcony. Food was nice but again nothing outstanding. The breakfasts were nice though and we were happy they did crepes as that is what all that my son would eat! He is extremely fussy when it comes to food and there was nothing in the buffet that he would eat. That is not a reflection on the hotel as there was plenty of variety just he lives on yorkshire puddings and chicken! The management were kind enough to get him some plain chicken cooked every night which was nice of them.

Sadly the beach in the resort was rubbish, the sand was like grit so no sandcastle making on this holiday and the sea was just a drop so no wading out for my son. I realise that this is because it is just a man made beach but I think most beaches in the costa brava are like this.

Pineda itself was a bit tired at parts, there is a nice fountain and a road train. Shops have the usual tacky items and seemed a bit pricey. We took the train (the train line is right next to the beach which is quite bizarre) to Barcelona for the day which was hard work with a young child in a buggy. He was bored, but well behaved, bless him. We went on the open top buses and drove around looking at the sights, we enjoy the cathedral but couldn't get in because of the massive queues.

We also had a trip to Figueres which was beautiful, highly recommended. We had a hire car and only problem with Figueres is most of the hotels don't really have parking (we had a night there before we flew home) We visited the Salvador Dali museum, I was happy as last time I was there was 20 years ago and Dali is my fave artist. My son really enjoyed that which I was quite surprised about.

The good thing I like about Spain is that under 14's travel free on public transport (unlike under 5's in the UK) then when they reach 14 they pay adult fare which I think is really good. Also the museum was free to under 14's too, again really good and I think a lot of places like that are the same.

We also went to the Medieval Knights which was a total let down. We were told it was a 20 minute drive away on the coach but weren't told that the coach would be doing a round trip picking up other passengers and would take 2 hours to get there. By the time we got there we were all fed up, my son was shattered. To make it worse, we had to wait outside to get our tickets and the lady who was bringing us out gave our tickets to someone else and by the time we got in half an hour later the show had already started and we had a very poor view after watching coach loads of people go in ahead of us despite the fact we had arrived before them. Very expensive night (£150 altogether) as we ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel after the first show as my son was way too tired after the long coach ride. We only saw an hour of the show for our money. We wish we had been told the coach was going to take 2 hours as we would have taken the hire car and might have even enjoyed the night. So if anyone is going, don't go on the coach, either take your own car or go in a taxi. 20 euros each way from the Taurus.

Not the best holiday but wasn't all bad I have been on but we really enjoyed travelling around in a hire car and got to see a lot more then you normally see on a package holiday.

Room Tip: Bear in mind there is no living area, the beach is rubbish for kids. Quiet resort with no nightclub...
