Stayed for two nighst en route from Dunedin to Christchurch. Accommodation was roomy and comfortable but found the heating wasn't really adequate to cope with the particularly cold frosty nights we encountered. The stting was perfect with a short walk into the village and a choice of some very good value restaurants. Had problems with wi-fi connection but could not fault the owner in her efforts to solve the problem.

The cottage Aldourie Lodge is fantastic, exactly what you see on the internet. Communications between Graeme/Patricia and I were great and responses were very quick, we had three nights in lovely peaceful surrounds.
Magnificent views from the lounge/dining area, the cottage is very comfortable and above all clean.
Coffee and the views are great at the Mt John Observatory, allow plenty of time as the service for the coffee is very slow.
We will be back.

Regards,
Stewart & Ann, Korumburra.

Room Tip: Don't worry about this all rooms are great.

Wanting to stay in Lake Tekapo but with no prior booking we started to look around at what was on offer. We luckily stumbled over Parkbrae Estate when we arrived, late in the afternoon. The owner invited us to have a look at two available houses on the estate and we instantly fell in love with the first one. It's a very old little cottage, nestled in beautiful gardens with a fire place (all ready for us to light), four large bedrooms, two bathrooms and a full kitchen. The windows along the front of the cottage were all picture windows overlooking Lake Tekapo and the Church of the Good Shepherd. We walked over to have a look at the church, could walk easily into town for a meal or shopping and took a drive up to Mt John where we found the observatory and it's fantastic little cafe. It was a truly memorable day's driving and overnight stay.

Room Tip: The Garden Cottage is so quaint and pretty with the most spectacular view!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such lovely comments about our property.
Parkbrae Estate and Garden Cottage are truly special! Graeme and Carolyn Murray have devoted over 20 years to landscaping this stunning garden and choosing all the interesting and quaint items in each house. Thus making each stay unique!

We are delighted you have enjoyed your time with us and do hope you can return.
Until then, all the best!

I chose this accomodation primarily for the location and it lived up to it. What I saw on the website
was exactly what I saw when I got there, regrettably for one night only. Magnificent views, warm and cosy place, the children were happy playing in the house and out on the Tussock, and my husband and I were happy as well. There's nothing else really after that I could possibly want.

The tariff is still reasonable, however to make it more expensive would perhaps make quite a few people to reconsider. But what we got out of it in the end was it made us all feeling privileged to witness the beauty of Tekapo from our windows. Thank you Parkbrae. Ruth VL Sydney

We were going to stay at Omarama but it was booked out, the lady at the Tekapo information center said this was available, it was excellent. The cottage was cute, quaint and clean, well appointed and comfortable. We really enjoyed our 2 nights, plus the trip to the Hermitige and then the Mt John Observatory at night. And McKenzies dog!
