Reserved a suite with 2 beds but when we arrived there was only one bed, with a dirty chair, washroom stunk. Night manager was helpfull to get a cot, but no extra sheets available. Breakfast was included but there were not enough croissants/cornetti for all the guests and after 20min of waiting we left. At check out, they tried to charge extra for the room and extra for the cot, I tried to show him the reservation on my iphone but he showed me a billboard with different rates. He was extremely rude and said in Italian "all you Americans like to make your own rules!" It was then that I spoke to him in Italian with a packed lobby about how dirty the room was and how rude he was. There were other people from New Jersey and Australia who were dissatified with the hotel.

Room Tip: Would try the Hotel D'oro down the street, looked a lot nicer

My husband and I travelled by train to Marina di Gioiosa Jonica in May 2007 and booked this hotel based on the review by the previous guest ... and the fact that no other hotels were reviewed.

A helpful staff member picked us up at the train station (2 blocks from the hotel) which was a lovely experience. We were shown 2 rooms and selected the one with a gorgeous ocean view. We were tired, hungry and needed a shower ...

There is only a bathtub with shower attachment, but no curtain. So it's either a bath, or crouch in the tub and use the shower attachment ... not very comfortable and the water was only tepid. And, the toilet didn't flush ... just swirled the paper around. The sliding patio doors did not lock and there was no safe in the room. Patios are connected, so we weren't terribly confident that someone couldn't get into our room. Front desk and manager came to fix it so they would lock, but then we couldn't open them ... so much for enjoying the deck.

Cost for this hotel was 85 Euro ... 98 for the suite.

Breakfast was sweet rolls and coffee ... no yogurt or fruit or cereal like other hotels in Sicily or Calabria. So, we walked down to the Sabbia d'Oro ... and booked 4 nights. It was fabulous!! Please read our review of that hotel. Well worth it!!

Would never stay here again.

My daughter & I stayed for 3 nights in 2001(your calendar stops at 2003) They were doing some work but it didn't interfere with the guests. Nice lobby, helpful staff as we didn't speak Italian, very nice rooms with small balcany. Breakfast in restaurant next building, suppers in upstairs dining room. Great access to the beach, short distance to shopping and train station. Very enjoyable, probably upgraded some structure by now, but it wasn't any inconvenience then. Highly recommended. Have some great photos but not available at the moment.
