The restaurant is well situated, in a quiet street just off the seafront. The staff is nice, the food is great. We took grilled seafood it was delicious.

A very pleasant server attended my wife and I when we sat at one of the comfortable outdoor tables last Sunday. We were persuaded to order the daily fresh seafood spaghetti. Scampi and prawns. What could go wrong? The pasta was great, al dente to perfection, although less than hot when it arrived at the table. The seafood, however, was rather mushy or mealy in composition, not firm and fresh tasting. When I asked, I was reassured: the catch had arrived during the night from local waters. If so, it must have been overcooked. But here's the corker: the price of each of our pastas was 20 euros, which is much more than we've paid for excellent pasta dishes elsewhere in Puglia and an excessive price for the mediocre dish we reluctantly consumed.

Fantastic fantastic octopus I dreamt about it last night we are coming back. The ravioli with burrata was fabulous and the people could not be nicer.

Its april and the bussines is quite slow in Otranto. Still, most restaurants are open and so is Retro Gusto. Not many guests.
We had a great grilled squid with oven fried rosemary potatoes. A simple, yet fresh and natural dish. Cooked from the dayly cath by a chef that know the game. The produce is local and so is the winelist, with a good selecton. All produced in Salento. The service was warm and personal.
Also recomended by Guide Michelin. Still not an expensive visit...
