We are currently staying at this hotel and was pleasantly surprised to find it excelled in all expectations.

Yes the check in was a bit long winded wit a few forms to fill and sign but the glass of Carva helped ease that.

We have a twin room, that is large and well appointed. The bed is comfortable, and the bathroom well finished. There is also a large fridge in the room.

The food so far has been very good, which if you have read my previous reviews I don't say lightly. Even the beans at breakfast have been hot

We have a few days left of our stay and I am looking forward to them

This hotel was an excellent choice for our winter break. The situation right into the promenade was ideal for my wife who was using a mobility scooter. The room was of a high standard and had a good balcony which was not overlooked.
Staff in the hotel all very helpful and friendly- good customer care.
Food at breakfast was really good but dinner perhaps had too much on offer and the quality suffered.

Room Tip: First floor facing south

We returned to the UK on 12 March after a really lovely week at the Playa Dorada hotel in Playa Blanca. The location is super, right near the beautiful beach and also the very attractive Rubicon Marina area, perfect! The hotel staff were wonderful in all areas. We paid a bit extra for deluxe, based upon Trip Advisor recommendations, and we were glad we did this. Our room was in a good position in the hotel, sea view and quiet at night. We thought the restaurant was good and we enjoyed the food very much. I lost a valued pendant during the week and the staff were very helpful in searching for it, both the pendant and gold chain were found the following day, and I’m very grateful to Maria, one of the restaurant managers for helping to make this happen, she was lovely.
There is only one down side to this hotel as far as I am concerned, and that is the abundance of wall art depicting demons! Why?

Just returned after a week staying standard all inclusive. There are lots of positives in this hotel probably the main being marvelous location within easy walk from Playa Blanca and Rubicon Marina. Not so easy for local buses a long uphill walk to the bus station. The pools (that we were allowed in) were lovely big and warm plenty of sunbeds. Our room large and bright definitely dated but no complaints, we overlooked a pool area with a restricted sea view. The service from the friendly, helpful staff was really good. The evening entertainment area is a cobbled up affair using the Lobby Bar without a raised area for the acts and inadequate lighting. The waiters have to rush outside and bring in extra plastic chairs. There is an outside stage which I am sure is great in the warmer months. We think this hotel needs to decide whether it wants to upgrade to a 5* or be a good 4* the system of deluxe/standard doesn't give guests a good experience. The price we paid was for a high end 4* but for this there were certain places we couldn't sit, eat or use all pool and sunbed facilities. The cost to upgrade is 35 euros or 47 euros per room per night. The quality of the food seems to depend whether you eat in the de-luxe only restaurant or the standard. The breakfasts and lunches were acceptable and sometimes good, however we were so disappointed with the evening meals, even eating out twice in the week. The food is not hot enough and quite tasteless. I had a turkey breast cooked on the grill by a chef and it was raw in the middle. On our first morning we mistakenly went into the deluxe restaurant and as it happened there was no guard on the door. It was a nicer room and food even serving English back bacon rather than the hard burnt or undercooked sort in the non-deluxe. The queues for a table can be long too. I am sorry not to have given a better review because the hotel is very good overall if it wasn't for the upper/lower class system.

Dear gran63_10,

Thank you for leaving us your feedback about your recent experience at our hotel.

We are very happy to hear that despite the improvements brought iup in your review, you have been able to have a pleasure stay with us. We must agree that we have the best location of all hotels in the area, allowing people to adventure around within a walking distance.

At the present time, our shows are being performed inside as the wind is still abit chilly in the evening; however, this stage is an improving spot as we normally have a show-room that is currently being upgraded. Certianly during warmer months, we move the stage to the outdoor and our guests seem to have the outdoor idea.

Overall we wroudl like to thank you for having chosen our hotel for these vacations and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for gs.hhplayadorada@nh-hotels.com should you require further assistance.

Respectfully,

Guest service department

Our second stay in this hotel. We were a bit apprehensive - would it be as good as the first stay a couple of years ago? Shouldn't have worried. Hotel and grounds are kept spotlessly clean. Outdoor pool was heated enough to make having a swim a real pleasure every day. Restaurant still quite small, but good, imaginative variety of meals, and service was good. Maybe they have cut the staff number slightlly below optimal here - there was often a big line for the griddle with only one chef ever in attendance, I felt sorry for the guy at peak times! Some reviewers complain about the "two teir" system here - standard and deluxe service. We went with standard service both trips, and I was perfectly happy to do without the use of artificial grass, superior sunbeds, dedicated lounge and restaurant and instead pay less for my holiday. The drinks menu for standard AI guests was pretty generous, too, unlike some much more expensive hotels I've stayed at. One thing that was great here during our stay is that guests respected the "no reserving sunbeds" rulle (mainly!) and we never had a problem getting a sunbed in the shade or elsewhere. The animation team around the pool during the day got the level just right for us, too - there was a restful atmosphere around the pool, punctuated with burts of activity, and plenty of variety. We tended to wander out of the hotel in the evenings, but the hotel entertainment that we did catch was pretty good. oh, and some really great after dinner jazz from a guitar and sax duo a couple of nights. Summarising, will have no hesitation in coming back to this hotel a third time.

Room Tip: All seem good!
