I must admit that I was quite apprehensive about this place after reading some of the very negative reviews. We stayed for 10 days and it was brilliant! Cannot comment on the food etc because we were self catering and I must admit that the bar and entertainment area left a lot to be desired but again we did not use them with all the lovely bars just outside in the Marina.
But ... our apartment overlooked the pool with sun most of the day on the balcony - first thing in the morning I was able to sit at the front of the apartment looking over the mountains in the distance.
The apartment was big and spotlessly clean. Towels and linen changed every two or three days and the maids were lovely. If you need extra pillows etc. just ask for them.
It is ideally placed for walks along the lovely prom into Playa Blanca and just 2-3 mins from the supermarket and of course the marina. Lots of parking just outside.
Reception staff very friendly and helpful and we will definitely be back

We have just arrived back from a week's stay at Rubimar suites. The suite are large, basic and a bit tired looking but not a problem for us as we didn't spend much time in the room. The beds were comfortable but are definitely in need of better pillows. The staff were very polite. We asked for a couple extra blankets as we were a bit cold at night and they were delivered to the room within minutes even though it was Sunday. The pool was large and had plenty of sun beds and sunshades. There is also an indoor heated pool and a gym. We didn't use the bar or eat there so cannot comment on them. The Rubimar suites are a couple minutes walk from Rubicon marina with restaurants and the coastal promenade which leads to Playa Blanca. There is also a supermarket within a couple minutes walk. Dorado beach was 10-15 minute walk and Playa Blanca a further 5-10 minutes with plenty of bars and restaurants. We would stay again.

I’ve never once felt the need to write a poor review of anywhere until now - this place was awful. We are still in the resort but thankfully now at another hotel that I would most certainly say: is a four star!!
If a current inspection was to occur now I’d be very surprised if it even made the grade of 3 star.
The first night we arrived later than expected due to a flight delay. We were taken to the restaurant where plates had been dished up for late arrivals and covered up with clingfilm.
The chicken was dry & rubbery, the bread was rock hard, the cold veg was a mushy mess - to top it off we both sat watching numerous families of cock roaches and insects crawling around under the hot plate area wondering what on earth we’d booked at. Tired and agitated we headed to the room and straight to bed and put it down to a long day and we were maybe over exaggerating.
The beds were very, very hard and when I asked at reception for an extra pillow I was told that he couldn’t get to them tonight!
The next morning we went down to breakfast - in the three mornings we were there, this was only time we ate in the restaurant for breakfast. There was hardly any choice, and the food was over cooked.
Between 4 & 5 pm there was a snack bar laid on for AI. This was a fruit bowl and a selection of dry ham & cheese sandwiches with the odd fly too.
Evening meals (we only had one of the three) were the same choice every night and the choice selection was extremely poor.
If you want a small bottle of water from the bar you have to pay for it, even on AI.
The rooms need updating badly: there’s paint and water marks on many walls, rust in the bath and a small hole in ours.
The air con unit leaked so much the cleaner just put a towel down and left it there on the second day.

Funnily enough the morning we left and were waiting at reception the gentleman in front of us was being profusely apologised too and received a refund for €160 - for what, I don’t know.

I would like to add that some of the photos on trip advisor are not a true reflection of this place. Some of the photos of the pool area are old. The place looks nothing like what the photos show, or the rooms!!

We come way 3 times a year and to the Canaries often and as I said this is the first time I’ve felt the need to leave a review let alone one that’s this appalling.

I think it’s only right people know what they are paying for: in this instance people are being ripped off!!

Spent 4 week’s at the Rubimar January/February. Unfortunately it was their worst weather for 47 years!!!! Lots of positives and this could so easily be a 4* hotel but it is not at present.

Location - excellent. Directly behind the Marina and all its shops and restaurants. There is a large supermarket 2 mins away and direct access to the coastal walkway from the rear of the hotel. This path leads to the beaches with the centre of Playa Blanca - with all its shops and restaurants - about a 30minutes stroll away. There is also a market at the Marina twice a week.

Accommodation - we had a large, spotlessly clean one bedroom apartment. We were All Inclusive but it was well equipped if Self Catering. Fridge, two ring hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, crockery, glasses, cutlery and pots. It did not have a kettle but one telephone call to reception and we were given a brand new kettle - still in the box!
There were flat screen TVs in both the main room and the bedroom. Unfortunately the only English channels were CNN, Sky News and Disney. The beds were comfortable and the mattresses looked new. The weather was awful for over 2 weeks of our holiday and there was no heating anywhere in the hotel. There were air con units in the apartment but no heat facility. Extra blankets were available on request but it was very cold in both rooms and as we had freezing winds whistling under the door and heavy rain battering down it was impossible to feel comfortable.

Food and Drink - we had no complaints about either. Whilst there were the normal buffets for all meals there was also a chef at hot plates, cooking to order. At breakfast he provided bacon, pancakes, fried eggs, and omelettes. At lunch and dinner he prepared at least 4 choices, two fish and two meat. The fish choices included the local white fish / tuna steaks /swordfish /giant prawns /salmon. The meat ranged from chicken / pork chops / steak / kebabs / fajitas and a couple of times a week there was a carvery. There were also about 10/12 buffet dishes for each meal and unfortunately they were warm, not hot, even when just put out. But there was a microwave and we just used that. Desserts were not great but there was a choice of 4 ice creams And a selection of fresh fruits at every/meal. Soft drinks, wine and beer were self service and ok.

Bar - open 11am to 11pm. Cocktails, local spirits, beer, wine, soft drinks,teas/coffee all available. Our only issue was that at 10.30pm the barman came round and emptied your drinks into plastic glasses. This was apparently to allow glasses to be washed before the bar closed at 11pm. And you were only allowed 2 drinks per person after 10.30pm.

Entertainment - there was only one guy, Luigi, and he worked his socks off. But he only worked Monday to Friday. A 4* hotel with no weekend entertainment????

Staff - I have kept the best to last. The staff were wonderful and are the biggest asset this hotel has. Everyone from Brigette in the Reception, Francesco in the bar/restaurant and Omara our room maid were friendly, polite, helpful and made you feel welcome.

Overall - The Hotel is tired but with a refurbishment would be a very good 4*. Not quite there at present.

Room Tip: If you like sun on your balcony all day request a room looking on to the tennis courts.
