NOT WORTH THE PRICE FOR php 33,000 FOR 2 NIGHTS

Review of Awesome Hotel
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Mar 2024via mobile
I was searching best hotels in La Union and I saw this Awesome hotel has ratings of 4 stars. When we came in we got a good impression from the people by the door and amused by the huge pool and front beach. When we checked in the hotel room it’s nice but only 1 bathroom. Imagine that we are family of 6 and using only 1 bathroom it’s such a hassle because we have to go down all the way to the lobby from our room. The TV was not a smart TV so we cant have any much entertainment. (Which is crazy) because hotels should have an entertainment or something to watch. If it’s not Smart TV atleast something available to rent so we can watch. I called an IT guy they came in and couldn’t do much. They said “wait and be right back” but they never came back to fix the TV.

It’s very expensive for 2 nights costs Php 33,000
FYI I dont mind paying that much but the cost is not worth the price of the quality of this hotel. I paid for 5 nights in Boracay for only Php 100,000. and thats 2 rooms already in Hennan Palm Beach garden (which is also a 4-5 star hotel). Awesome Buffet also is not that good. I dont like waisting food but even a little bit portion we got on our plate, we can’t even finish it because IT’S NOT THAT GOOD.

My expectations from this hotel was so high and it’s such a disappointment that it wasn’t the same as i thought.

The housekeeping also didn’t refill the amenities as we check in. So we thought they didn’t inspect our room :/ the only thing we love here is the pool and the beach and that’s not enough to be worth the price of 33,000 because we also looking for the quality of service which it doesn’t have one.

This property is only a few years old and quite modern. It's a great place to stay over if you are on a long journey & need a place to refresh & recharge. They have several rooms to choose from. The Premier Family Room is a good choice for a big family. It includes 2 queen beds & a separate bedroom area with 2 twins & has a pool view & partial beach view from your very own balcony which has a nice seating area where you can also lay your swim suits out to dry. The bathroom has a great shower, extra towels, wash line and includes shower essentials & toothbrushes & toothpaste for 6 guests. The room is equipped with a safe, hot water kettle, coffee, tea, clothes hangers, medium sized fridge and a TV. There are multiple outlets throughout the room to charge your devices. There's also an easy access water dispenser located on each floor which is really handy to refill water bottles. (TIP- the fridge light can be turned off without shutting off the fridge. So you don't have to sleep with the light on. Also, outside food & drinks are not permitted.)
A/C and fans work great. You just have to remember to hit the restart button each time you open the balcony doors because it will automatically shutoff the A/C.
Downstairs, you'll find a gift shop with snacks, drinks, flipflops, swimsuits & souvenirs, etc. Be sure to try the coffee shop in the lobby that has a wide variety of drinks and pastries... you can even sit out by the pool or the beach to enjoy your snack.
When you check in, you'll be provided with towel cards for the pool. However, if you lose the cards, you'll be charged for the cost of the pool towels.
There's a restaurant on site with a large menu offering, but it's a bit pricey. There are other restaurants in walking distance that are worthwhile.
BTW, there's an advantage to booking directly with the hotel because you can book a room that includes breakfast or you can apply your senior citizen discount card if you have one. I booked mine online with a travel site because I could not get through to the hotel via phone (no answer) or email (no response). There's a lot of staff here but they seem quite slow to respond. For example, I ordered something to eat at the pool & 25 minutes later, they informed me that the item was not available. (This is after I waited about the same amount of time to get served.) There are call bells on the table to contact your server, but they're but very responsive. The staff is all lovely & very polite..just slow.

You cannot make outgoing calls from your hotel room using the hotel phone. Wifi is available throughout the property.

The hotel is quite popular in the community & frequently hosts conferences & groups so the beach area by the pool can get quite busy and loud at night. You can't beat the location though! The hotel is beach front and clean and a great walk on the beach.

There's lots of parking, but it's not easy to book transportation to/from the property. I asked front desk the assistance with this & it took them 2 days & at the end, I still was not able to book a driver.

There's no money exchange on site, but they have an ATM in the lobby if needed.

Overall great stay and I'd definitely stay here again!

Room tip: If you're on a timetable at checkout, settle your bill the night before because when you c/o, they have to physically check your room.

Food wasn’t awesome. (At-least for us)

Awesome beach access
Awesome wifi
Awesome staff

Not so awesome: hot tub was yellowish. Looks like it needs a bucket of chlorine

Vegan food not much of an option. Inquired about their vegan cake 🌱 at their lobby cafe three times and always told not available. Breakfast buffet had little to no vegan considerations.

Main infinity pool was nice though and our kids enjoyed.

Stayed at a premier suite- awesome bathroom amenities; 3 bedrooms, each with queen-sized beds, TVs and ensuite bathrooms; grand dining table and living areas; basic kitchen but had lots of wine glasses; lovely balcony with sweeping view of San Juan Beach and the sea and the best place to catch the sunset.
Awesome staff- warm, gracious and accommodating. Awesome meals- bountiful breakfast and the Christmas eve dinner buffet had a wide selection and delicious dishes. Coffee in the lobby cafe was awesome. Lots of parking. Our families had a wonderful and memorable stay.

Room tip: Do the half-day Tangadan Falls trek. Waves Point restobar served good Peruvian dishes. Flotsam & Jetsam was nice for after-dinner drinks and hanging out.

First visit at the sports bar for a lovely sunset experience after being warned about higher prices to be expected from a local and from our four meals two were excellent and two were poor. The poor ones were the the Beef Salpicao and the Beef Rendang where the meat was not tender but tough and gristly and lacked authentic flavour. In contrast the shredded beef obviously was much better in the Thai Basil Beef (Pad Gra Prow) and the Pork Adobo Overload was great AND the meat was so tender and tasty. Perhaps could have had less belly fat for me but that’s the best part according to my wife. Drinks good.

Attracted by the live band music next door , we had traditional desserts at PM Final Option which set up for a nice walk back to base along the beautiful beach under a full moon.

ps Awesome - you should review having staff smoking in the bar when it’s primarily used by guests having dinner.
