Really good service and amazing, high quality food. Service was efficient and drinks were served quickly. Table was lovely and the whole visit was a pleasure! Will definitely return.

Visited on a Friday lunch time at about 1pm. Ordered the 3 course for us both. The starters came, the mushrooms were good the lamb kofta very disappointing. 45 minutes later we were still waiting for our mains, the pub was not busy! went to ask, the food arrived 5 minutes later on cold plates. The potato and veg that accompanied the chicken pie looked awful (see photo), they must have been under the heat lamp for the 20-30 minutes it took to cook the chicken pie. The steak sandwich was dry and uninspiring, the chips were ok but not as good as the bottled sauce. We thought that we would then be served our pudding, after another 30 minutes I had to remind the staff that pudding had been ordered. Puds not great but the service was terrible. The manager did apologize on our way out and blamed the kitchen staff!

My partner ordered a burger, which included chips, and a pint of beer, while I had a bowl of soup with to very small slices of bread. I only had tap water to drink. This came to £24! I won't be going back there for a meal. The café and pub at Sawley Lock provide far greater value for money.

My wife had a rump steak that was tough and full of gristle. I had the beef and mushroom pie with undercooked pastry and a filling that was tepid at best. The vegetables had clearly either been cooked hours before and kept warm, or had just been badly overcooked to the point of being mushy, but then also placed under a warmer so the cabbage was drying out on top.

The front of house staff were pleasant enough and were clearly working very hard (understaffed?), but the food coming out of the kitchen was really very poor. No idea what has gone wrong here as awhile back it was one of the pub restaurants that we used quite frequently and the food was consistently good, but this is now the second 'Vintage Inn' that we have eaten in, in succession, where the food has been just plain bad!

Came here for lunch, didn't stay, no candles lit, fire not lit and it cold wet and windy outside. No music, no atmosphere. Sorry but ain't good enough. Had one drink and left to go the the Harrington Arms the local green king pub. Maybe people should pop on there to see what to do

Thank phil t

Hi Phil T, we regret your most recent visit with us was not up to the standards we strive for problems with getting the logs and coal due to the bad weather may have been due to the fire not roaring as usual we have lots in stock now so the fires will be going until the good weather returns.

Thanks Dan and the team,
