Dilapidated hotel. Needs some work. Hotel was as basic as it comes and the charm of the building was completely lost. The cost of saving money is massively obvious to the customer and it's understandable in the current 'economic climate' however with all of the lights in the room on, I could barely see anything for 5 mins as the lights had to heat up. I'm all for energy saving but not when you pay decent money to stay somewhere. Absolutely basic, but cheap. Bed is so spongy that I sat on the end of it whilst my partner was doing her make up and fell backwards as I wasn't expecting the mattress to be that forgiving. Parking was a nightmare too as there was a conference on and no spaces within the hotel. We booked in for a wedding 6 months in advance and there wasn't a space for us. We had to pay £4.50 to park in the market car park as the initial woman on reception was about as accommodating as a video in a CD player. She said that we had to just come back later and move the car if there was a space.
However, there was one girl on reception who was an absolute gem called Marina. She was an absolute god send. She gave us the best local information and sorted us a space when she could. She's an asset to this business.More
