I took a group of hungry walkers in after our walk. I had previously taken down everyone’s food choice to ensure there were enough Sunday dinners for them.
We arrived back earlier than expected. A separate room had been set up for us. We got a drink and all of our dinners served in great time. All perfect plates . You know the food is good when everyone stops talking to eat!
We ended up with more people staying for dinner and extra orders which were not a problem to the staff at all.
A perfect end to a fantastic trip into Derbyshire. Thank you all the staff. We will be back !

We met our friends for lunch prior to Christmas. It was b pleasantly busy. We were served quickly and the food was excellent value for money. It was a lovely relaxed occasion. My crumble was especially nice. Will go again.

We walked into the village from the Chatsworth caravan site and came into the Wheatsheaf. The service was excellent, all table service. The mixed grill was cooked to perfection and trhe steak and ale pies were delicious. We had a fabulous evening and our dog made friends with the group on the next table who shared their excess steak and fish with him. Highly recommended if you are staying n the area.

I usually give a 4 as there should always be room for improvement but in this occasion my ‘posh fish finger sandwich’ could not be faulted. The chicken BLT was equally fresh and the child’s vegan burger more than edible (and I’m a meat eater!). The pub is comfortably quiet and Michelle and the team welcoming and helpful. A spontaneous stop that was just what we needed!.
