A lovely traditionally laid out pub with a good surrounding. Met a friend here for a light lunch and was lucky enough to be able to sit outside in the sun, beautiful views of Derbyshire at all angles and easily accessed from Chesterfield.
However, being a vegetarian there was not much choice but opted for a cheese sandwich and side portion of chips; the sandwich was a typical breadcake which was dry with a few slices of cheddar on, side salad was fine as were the chips but definitely could have done this myself for more cheaper! It then took nearly 2 hours after we had finished eating for the table to be cleared even though the pub wasn't busy. Having said that the staff were reasonably friendly and quick to serve and take orders at the bar. Would return fr drinks but not food.

My wife and I dine here every time we visit Baslow.
The food is always good and the welcome warm and sincere.
Service is very good.
The front (public bar) seating is worn and could do with an upgrade (we usually eat in here as it's quieter and roomy) but there is a nice dining area to the rear of the pub behind the bars.
My filet steak (local beef) was superb and my wife's lamb rump was similar.

We called in on the off chance having not booked a table.
This is a proper pub with a great welcome and great food.
You could tell that our food was cooked freshly upon order and a great plate of food and fresh vegetables it was.
We both had liver & bacon and it was cooked wonderfully.
The service was very friendly with nothing being to much trouble.
Thank you

We had Sunday lunch there and it was really delicious. However, one of the bar/waiting staff who served us was very rude and unwelcoming which is a shame given how nice the food was.

Recent visit to the peak district and an evening meal at the Robin Hood. Booked table in advance and interior of pub surprisingly roomy and bright. Menu supplemented by specials on the night but went for the standard pub fare which was both filling and presented quickly by excellent staff. Pub not open on a Sunday or Monday evening and situated a little out of Baslow village but parking is more than ample and should not put you off for a visit.
