It's years since we last came here and the pub has definitely had a makeover and changed for the better. The decor's more modern, there's more space, and the menu's wider and more appealing. We were just here for lunch this time, half way through a walk, and the roast pork sandwich with apple sauce and the soup of the day (cream of plum tomato with roasted garlic and creme fraiche) were both delicious. There are some good ales on tap too, including some delicious Boondoggle blonde ale. The mains on the menu looked nice too - good to see something like spanakopita (Greek spinach pie) on a pub menu. A good place to check out and it was popular too - filling up fairly quickly as we left at 1.30 on a Sunday afternoon in October, with several large family groups, couples, walkers and more.

Visited at lunchtime. Good varied choice of dishes and daily special. I had the hot roast beef barm with onions roast potatoes and a seperate jug of gravy, delicious. A good choice of puds. The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream was beautifully served
, and to finish a cappuccino. Good value, will be returning.

It's a year since we've been here for lunch, but thankfully apart from the many nothing's changed. Great welcome, especially for our big German shepherd dog - first thing brought to the table was a fresh bowl of water for her!, fantastic service and, yes, you guessed it, great food as well. Walking boots, no problem, smart clothes or dirty muddy walking trousers, no problem. Really can't recommend this highly enough, we'll be back !

We visited this traditional, very welcoming pub whilst holidaying in the Peak District. A great menu with something for all 6 adults. We had fish & chips, chicken burgers, steakwich & quiche, followed by sticky toffee pudding, treacle tart & crumble. We were pleased they had run out of vanilla ice cream as the toffee/caramel ice cream was beautiful. A very dog friendly pub and the staff were very pleasant. Will definitely visit again.
