Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall
Ranked #1 of 59 things to do in Tangshan

I found this Memorial Hall to be an informative site that helped me better understand Tangshan and what the people had endured years before. When disaster strikes the character of the people is at stake and what I discovered was the people of Tangshan are strong and throughout my visit in Tangshan people would often share stories from what they personally experienced and how this disaster helped shape the Tangshan city of today. I had my passport with me so I had no issue with entrance.

The official name is "Tangshan Earthquake Relief Memorial Hall" as indicated on the ticket. Entrance is free and you need to present an ID. The museum is closed on Monday. Photo taking within the premise is not allowed.

There are two levels of exhibits with the first devoting to history of Tangshan including its early phase of industrial development, and the earthquake - how the city and its people were affected and how the people in the country responded with disaster relief. The second level is on its development post earthquake. We covered the exhibits in an hour.

The park itself is nice to walk around and the memorial is good to visit to learn about the terrible events of 1976.
