Very nice, modern clean apartments. Lovely pool, always with plenty of sunbeds and this was at the end of August. The pool bar does amazing food in what looks like a basic kitchen but don't be fooled! Helpful and knowledgeable reception staff too.

Room tip: Being set on a hill all the rooms have a good view.

My wife, daughter and I have just come back from 7 night holiday at the Mar Blau Villas in Son Bou.

After a nice flight from East Midlands Airport where our Ryanair flight was only quarter full. From touching down at Mahon Airport, getting through immigration, picking our bags up and to get to the villa via a taxi (€35) it only took 45 minutes. We checked in and had to pay a resort tax of €28. The lady showed us to our villa and how to use everything and where the nearest supermarket was. We arrived at about 10pm and reception is open until midnight.

Reception are very helpful. The day after we arrived we asked to borrow a coffee maker and a beach umbrella which they let us use free of charge.

Everyday the maids come and make your beds, empty the bins and sweep the floors and half way through the week they change the sheets and towels.

There is a library in reception where you can swap books.

The pool snack bar is open from 11am to 11pm and does toasties, baguettes, pasta, pizzas, steaks, etc.

The room as everything you need for a comfortably holiday. If I had to pick faults with the room:

The oven is a microwave/combination oven which I couldn’t get used to.
The air conditioning is either on or off. There was no thermostat for it.

Overall this is excellent accommodation and if I come back to Son Bou I would definitely stay in these villas.

Below is one further information which people may find useful:

We used the service bus from outside the villas to get to Alaior. It cost €1.30 each. We didn’t find much to do in Alaior and only spent an hour there.

We went to kit kat bar a few times on way into to centre. We would have a bucket of San Miguel’s (5) for €10.

The best restaurant we found was called Restaurante Casa Andres. A main course for the 3 of us and a round of drinks was €50 but that did include a massive T-bone steak for €23. We got to the restaurant at 6pm and they politely said that the tables were reserved for 8pm and asked if we could leave the table for 8. The food was that good that we booked a table for the Saturday and Sunday night.

There is a bridal path that runs around the island and one day we walked to Sant Tomas. You pick the path up by the HG Jardin de Menorca hotel and is about 4km to Sant Tomas.

We asked for a late check out. It cost €5 for every hour past midday that you need it. We checked out at 6 and therefore cost us €30. Reception also arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport.

Just home from a fabulous week away in son bou. These apartments are superb and were perfect for us.spotlessly clean, friendly and welcoming.we very much enjoyed the peace and quiet around the lovely pool, with a 15-20 minute stroll into the relaxed atmosphere of the 'town'and the beach. Great little supermarket 5min away. Bus services right outside into mahon or cuitedella.
A little gem !

It is our last night and we are sitting on the terrace of the pool bar and it really is beautiful. It is an amazing sunset. Sad to be leaving. It is a lovely little complex. The staff are excellent. From the reception staff, to the maid service and maintenance guys. All of them seem to really enjoy their jobs and are very good at it. The pool bar is really good. We ate there several times in the evening. So convenient and great service and food. It offers everything that you can get in town. Son Bou is a 15 min walk away and we preferred to wAlk along the road past the villas rather than down along past the nature reserve. There is a lovely little bakery on the San Jaime Club resort which is well worth a visit. 10 mins walk on way to town. You can eat lunch there, only rolls and pastries but lovely. The bus outside Mar Blau takes you to either Citudella or Mahon. Both worth a visit. And on a Wed eve, jump the bus to the market in Alaior. A lovely little town which has a great atmosphere with lots of outside drinking and eating on Wed eve. Couldn’t recommend Mar Blau enough. Great pool area too. Accommodation is basic but well equipped. All villas have a terrace area which is nice to sit on and soak up more sun!!
