the room was not the same we booked on the site,we asked for an explanation on the main desk and they told us:"there are 2 rooms with low fare(100uss/day?? low fare??)if you want an upgrade you have to pay more!!)...we declined of course so we had to stay in a smelly,backdoor,favela-view,1star decorated tinny room!! the road beside the pool was under construction, with a lot of dust in the air and noisy...well,really noisy!!
Not safe to come late at night, you gonna be robbed for sure!!
The place seems to be lovely on the photos...good job mister photographer!!
This place is a nightmare...go somewhere else!

The hotel is decorated in a Thai style, such a pity, we are in Brazil. All the dishes have chips, so ugly and neglect impression....There is no safe in the room, you ask for a safe (it is included in the room description and in the price of the room) that never comes (but you get a lot of bla, bla, bla). So, during 4 days you bring with you all your papers, money and keys to the beach with you. So safe. The minibar in the room is not in a furniture. So glad to be awake by the compressor in the night. Wifi connects, disconnect, connect, disconnect.... Exhausting. Some days there is a tea time in the lobby, some days not. Depends on the mood of the chef. Same for the food, really not good, avoid picanha, dry, hard, oily. I am afraid I can't recommend this place. BTW last award is from 2014.

We decided to return to Bahia after 10 years and opted for Praia do Forte, Refugio da Vila became a natural choice after reading the reviews and exploring the alternatives available

The reception was OUTSTANDING - although the flight arrived earlier than expected in Salvador and the transfer didn't present any delay, we were accepted in a early checkin. They offered to join the breakfast while the room was prepared

The atmosphere is a fake rustic, although full of bamboos and wood everything is very well thought

By the way, if you are lucky you might have Angelo - yeap, Angelo - to help you. Very polite, educate and willing to help

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel over the Easter holiday. We really enjoyed our stay. The pool and gardens are beautiful. We loved the monkeys that came down for breakfast each morning. Swimming in the pool we saw humming birds collecting nectar. You can walk to the local beaches very easily. The Main Street with restaurants and bars etc is just a few minutes walk. The breakfasts were great. We loved the fresh omelettes and there was so many fresh cakes. A lovely touch over our stay was the fresh flowers each day in our room. We also had Easter biscuits and chocolates delivered to our room daily! The staff were very friendly and helped rescue my sunglasses from the roof (don't ask how I managed to drop them from the balcony!). We were very pleased that we chose this hotel as the location means you can walk easily to the beach and town. The room we had was a little on the small side and the curtain pole was wobbly (the rooms reminded us of the rooms you'd expect in hotel around the med in Greece or Potugal). Don't let that put you off booking, this place is a little gem.

Very good first impressions when we arrived at this hotel. Beautiful lanterns hanging outside, a nice reception area and a beautifully decorated pool/outdoor area. The reception staff are helpful and they always made sure they had someone who spoke English.

The standard double room we had booked was tiny. There was no room to move once we got our 2 suitcases in so we asked the reception if we could change rooms. There was a room for 3ppl which was available and larger and so they let us move into there at no extra cost which we really appreciated. The staff are all very helpful. They also organised a car service to pick us up from Salvador airport which was much cheaper than getting a taxi from the airport.

The rooms and furnishings are however a little dated and could do with improving.

The serving staff at the bar and restaurant dont speak any English and it was difficult in the mornings at breakfast to order hot food.

Praia do Forte is a small town and everything is walking distance from this pousada. Overall, very cute and quaint place to stay.
