ARRIVAL-- was the only part I would complain about. Check in took about 45 minutes for our entire group to check in. Our room wasn't ready for about two hours after we arrived, but they upgraded us to a partial ocean view so we couldn't complain. Also, they had damp towels and welcome drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) waiting for us.
ROOM-- once our room was ready, we were thoroughly impressed with the partial ocean view. We were on the golf course side, so we had a beautiful view of the golf course, aqueduct ruins, and ocean. If you're debating whether or not to book partial or full ocean view, I recommend the partial. We still had plenty of ocean view from our partial room. The bed was comfortable, the coffee pot worked, the bathroom had all of the amenities we needed (hair dryer, plenty of towels, etc.), and the room safe was easy to set up and really convenient to keep all of our valuables stashed.
HOUSEKEEPING-- the housekeeping staff was so friendly and prompt! The rooms were cleaned every day, towels restocked, and most days we got a super cute towel animal on our bed. Donna and Jasmin were especially sweet! Our only complaint was the mini-fridge was not restocked every day. They only stock it with water and coke, no beer, but there's so much alcohol throughout the resort we never felt the need to have any in our room. And if we were craving a beverage in our room, we just walked down to the Frog Bar and brought them up. Plus there's room service.
LOCATION-- PERFECT! Only 20-25 minutes from the airport, and unlike other resorts we saw, the Hilton is distant from the road and sits on multiple acres of land so you can't see other resorts. You feel very secluded in a good way. But if you do want to get off of the resort, there's a free shuttle that will take you to the Rose Hall shops which are less than 5 min away and have many touristy stores. Make sure you look at the souvenirs the people on the resort offer first and talk price, so you don't get overcharged. And of course you can always take excursions. We recommend the Dreamrunners catamaran cruise to the Dunn's River Falls (also includes PHENOMENAL snorkeling over the coral reef) and swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Cove.
AMENITIES-- ALL INCLUSIVE. Includes food (no limit to how many meals you can have), beverages (alcoholic/non), and snacks. ATM was down most of the time we were there, but if you have large bills, the front desk will give you change.
RESTAURANTS-- honestly all amazing.
-Moonstones- LOVED the pizza-- cheese because the meat was kind of weird. Also has a great pasta buffet for dinner; I had the cheese tortellini with bolognese, and my husband had the spaghetti with marinara and chicken. Both were very good.
-Buffet- LOVED the themed-buffet nights, especially Jamaican night.
-Mangoes- liked the quesadillas and beef patties-- if you get the patties, make sure to order the cheese sauce to have with it.
-Three Palms- went there to celebrate our wedding and the service was amazing. The only bummer was we couldn't have our whole group of 16 sit together so we felt a little separated. BUT the food and service def made up for it. I had the herb-crusted chicken, which was cooked perfectly. You can get a different side than what's on the menu. It was the night of our wedding so the servers made a special plate for us at the end.
-Luna de Mare- great atmosphere, wonderful service, and delicious food. I had the alfredo, huge portion but really tasty. My husband had the chicken parm, yumm.
-King Frog Bar- so convenient. We definitely visited this bar more than any other. delicious drinks and friendly service... Cynthia was great!
-Swim-up bar- so so so awesome! loved ordering Miami Vices (pina colada and strawberry daiquiri mixed).
**all bars make drinks STRONG so if you just want a little alcohol, make sure you specify.
-Main pool- clean, beautiful view of the ocean, and often has activities inside-- pool volleyball, aerobics classes, etc.
-Swim-up bar pool, water slides- AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. We spent most of our time here. The water slides are so much fun. Make sure you get there kind of early to scout an inner-tube-- needed for one of the slides.
I will say the service in Jamaica is a little slow compared to the hustle and bustle of American customer service. Everyone seems to be on island time, but you need to have that mindset when you go to Jamaica. We were never disappointed because we weren't really in a hurry.
There are so many activities offered every day for kids and adults. There's a daily activity board by the water park that details all activities and their locations, including beach volleyball, pool volleyball, soccer, performances, different classes-- dancing, zumba, aerobics, patwah (Jamaican language), etc.-- disco (club that kids can go to until 11p.m. then adults only), etc.
-the water park
-being able to explore the resort, including the aqueduct ruins (when there's not a wedding there of course)
-the seaweed on the beach
-that's literally it
We were married in the West Lawn gazebo at 11 a.m. and it was BEAUTIFUL. Our wedding coordinator, Charline, was very prompt and organized. We met the day before the wedding to do a walk-through. Our photographer, Cedric, did a wonderful job. He was so kind and funny. He called before the ceremony to see if I wanted getting ready pictures. I declined, but it was nice he offered. The photos turned out BEAUTIFUL. The 30-minute cocktail reception after was set up in the gazebo directly after the ceremony while we did pictures. It was very basic but nice. They also reserved dinner at the Three Palms restaurant for us that night, which was no extra charge for us all to be together (like it is at some resorts)... even if we weren't all at the same table, we were next to each other. Our wedding was absolutely perfect. Even though the west lawn gazebo is right next to the main pool, the cabanas block the view so it still seems secluded.
The Hilton is honestly perfect. I would recommend it for couples, families, singles, etc. They have activities for all guests-- see above-- and plenty of spots that are kid-less for those who don't want to be around kids all day.
