“BEST VACATIONS EVER AT IBEROSTAR ROSE HALL BEACH !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2012

Iberostar has 3 hotels (The Grand, The suites & The Beach) - We went to the Beach. This hotel is much more fun than the others and got more entertainment.

20 min. ride from the airport.

People from the Grand & suites could come to the beach but not the other way around ...
We (Beach) could just use facilities of suites hotel for spa, gift shop & disco.

Room:
Nice room with balcony with tv (lots of channels)
They got the same electric outlet as Canada. We had a view on the pool & sea. Rooms had a safe & minibar.

Resort
Two big pools with lifeguards. You have no right to reserve chairs. On site, Ping pong & pool tables, scuba diving lessons, gym, Volleyball. Tennis, basketball. Very beautiful & Clean.
Free shuttle to go shop.
Temp. between 28-30 every days. Watch Out for Beach Paaarty ... So cool!

The Beach & the sea:
Average. You have no trouble finding chairs.

Food
Best food I ever ate at any resort !!! A la carte Resto... Japanese was good and Cajun was
excellent. Variety of fruits, desserts, meals .... All good !!!

Drinks
Try the Jamaica smiiile & the plantain drink

NightShows
Entertainment staff has a lot of fun and it shows ... They did a nice job entertaining kids & adults. Singers & dancers give a good show.

NightShows & Buffet are inside. No flies.

Overall service is good.

On paper was a 4 stars but in my mind was at least a 4.5 stars ...
Only negative thing ... Activities are too expensive !

Room Tip: Buy alcohol at the Montego Airport ... Much cheaper...

We just returned from this resort today and I had to write a little something after reading some negative reviews of this resort. The resort was a little on the larger end for us however the warmth and friendliness of the staff made us feel right at home. Although our resort was probably a little more 'louder' than we would have liked (because of the many activities planned for the guests", we found many spots on the beach that were blissfully quiet and allowed us to unwind. The one thing that stood out for us was the food. It was DELICIOUS! We ventured away from the buffet once but settled for the buffet for most of our meals as the food was amazing. For us, it was the best buffet food we had had at any resort. What a treat that was! Also, the servers who offered us drinks on the beach were so lovely.
Having children, we had our kids join in some of the kids club activities and Annia and Dale were so wonderful with our kids. Not only that, they are so talented!
The warmth and humour of the Jamaican people will always make this vacation such a memorable one. Thank you so much for making our hearts a little happier:)

We stayed at this hotel for a week starting March 8th. We arrived at the hotel exhausted from an early morning flight. We could not get to sleep the first night as there was a large beach party going on with speakers booming out music to well past midnight. We tried to sleep with the patio door shut with pillows over our ears. The next morning we parked ourselves on the beach which was extremely congested with people from the hotel. By 10:00 a.m., 30 to 40 local school girls were running around on the beach screaming and kicking balls into patrons in chairs. We could not read our books or talk to each other without having to yell. By 4:00 p.m. we went to the front desk to complain and were treated like we were annoying flies and were passed over to "Guest Services", a contradiction in terms. The woman at guest services told us that the hotel issued day passes to locals to enjoy the hotel beach, rudely informed us that we should have complained earlier and implied that the situation was our fault. Not once were we asked what room number we were staying in. We asked for a pass to go to one of the adjoining hotel beaches and we were told that it was not possible, we were allowed to walk by the other hotels on the beach but could not use any of their facilities. Security on the beach was quite prominent, they were ready to pounce on us if we walked too close. We were made to feel like unwanted, poor relatives. We had booked and paid for an expensive suite on the top floor of the hotel. The tour offices' staff were just as uncaring and condescending. Everyone was either trying to sell us something or provoke us to give them something. The only people in the hotel that were reasonably pleasant were the cleaning staff and waitresses. The a la carte restaurants (only 3 of them, 2 were good) were always booked up and we spent our meals at the buffet trough. The house wine tasted like Kool-Aid. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms clean and nicely decorated. Like a beautiful woman, great to look at but vacant inside of anything that matters. The 5 stars should be 3 stars at best. When you are away from home and depend on a hotel to provide you with good service and address your needs, it is disheartening to be made feel that you are regarded as an annoyance. We will never stay at any Iberostar hotels again.

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for taking the time in giving us your valued feedback in regards to your experience. It is through communications of this nature that we are given an opportunity to assess and evaluate our performance, as well as to ensure that we maintain and deliver the level of service expected from our Hotel. Further more, we would like to express our gratitude for the positive remarks, and we are glad to hear that you were satisfied with the hotel in general.

The Management and Staff at IBEROSTAR Resorts are committed in providing an ambience which satisfies our guests’ requirements, we sincerely regret if the circumstances mentioned may have affected your vacation experience and your perception of our hotel. We are sorry you were disturbed by our weekly beach party, we ensure this ends at 11 p.m. the latest so our valued guests are not bothered by the music. We regret the fact that you were irritated by a group of local school girls that were at our hotel for a few hours. A hotel of our size sells day passes to local patrons for them to enjoy the facilities during the day, unfortunately we cannot control the behavior of all our customers. Kindly accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience which you may have encountered due to such. We would like to reassure you however that this is not a true depiction of our standards of operation thus, you can rest assured that all the corrective measures where necessary, have been taken so as not to have a reoccurrence of the situation mentioned.

Once again, thank you for your valued feedback and for having chosen to vacation with us. We hope that your perception of IBEROSTAR Hotels and Resorts hasn’t been tarnished due to this isolated circumstance. We sincerely hope that we will once again be given the opportunity to prove to you our commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction.

My husband and I travelled with another couple to the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach from March 2-10. I wish we booked in September when the price was much cheaper and that was to go to the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. We flew with Sunwing from Edmonton. The bus ride was about a half hour from the airport. We arrived at the hotel at 5 am, checked in and then went to our rooms. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice. After reading other reviews I am happy I packed a hair dryer since the one in the room is not what I am used to.

Beach: We spent a lot of time at the beach since you couldn’t get a lounger by the pool at 10 am after breakfast. There are quite a few trees for shade which I liked. They had a beach party on Thursday night which was fun with music and dancing (no bonfire though).

Food: The food was pretty good except the jerk chicken was dry. I loved the banana juice in the morning at the buffet:) The buffet even had turkey, gravy and mashed potatoes one night which was my favorite. Pasta station and omelet station, excellent! Desserts were kinda tasteless though except the ice cream was very good. We really enjoyed the Japanese a la carte and felt it was the best. The chef was very entertaining and the steak was better than at the Steakhouse (Uncle Tony's). I appreciated the fact that if we slept in we could still get breakfast at Uncle Tony's from 10-noon.

Staff: The staff and star friends are great! It was nice not having the language barrier compared to Cuba, DR and Mexico. We got to know a few of them quite well such as Tasha, Juvonne (trainee), and Travis.

Tour: We booked with our Sunwing Rep the half day Dunns River Falls tour on a Monday which cost $55 US each. We paid by cash but she did accept visa. The cruise ships were scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday. Didn't want to go on those days. We were picked up at 9 am and were back by 2 pm. The bus driver dropped us off first at a jewellery store in Ocho Rios while he went to purchase our tickets. My hubby went out of the store for a smoke and it only took a few seconds for the locals to start bugging him to buy their wares. The store owner came out and told the locals to leave....You will need to wear water shoes which you can buy at this store or at the Falls. There are a few exit points if you want to get out of the falls. They tape the whole group and you can buy the dvd for $40. Our tour guide then took us to a Jerk Centre for jerk chicken. Very tasty. It was $4 for 1/4 chicken.

We were going to book the Luminous Lagoon but needed a group of 6 and heard that if there is a full moon (which there was) we wouldn’t be able to see the glow as well so we opted out:(

Check out was at noon but our flight wasn't until 4:55 am the next day. The bus was scheduled to pick us up at 1:30 am but came 20 minutes early. We were even the last stop. I had hoped to get a late check out but there really wasn't any point since the front desk said we could only have the room until 4 pm since the maids go home at 5 pm. It was appreciated that they do offer a shower room.

Montego Bay Airport: We arrived at appx. 1:30 am as our flight home was at 4:55 am. We were hoping to buy our Blue Mountain Coffee and Sangster's Jamaica Rum Cream at the airport. We were very disappointed that all of the shops (even duty free) didn’t open until 6 am. I was very happy to find Sangster's Rum in Alberta. It is better than Bailey's!

We would definitely go back to this resort if we go to Montego Bay again but I think next time we will check out Negril just to try something different.
