I cannot recommend Puente de Pilar highly enough. For a one star Hotel in the 20-40 euros a night price range they don’t come any better than this. I stopped here on my way to the Walkinginspirit retreat in Somiedo Natural Park. The hostel is situated next to the estuary at the back of the beach and a short walk over the historic bridge brings you out on the broad sweep of the golden sands of Ribadesella. Attention to detail is everywhere to be seen at Puente de Pilar and everything is spotless and tastefully arranged in the way of a much more expensive hotel. The service is also impeccable and the food delicious with many organic choices. Whether you are passing through on the Camino de Santiago, visiting the prehistoric cave paintings of Tito Bustillo or looking to spend some down time on the fantastic beach at Ribadesella Puente de Pilar is easily the best choice you can make. Your charming host Fernando speaks English very well and is very happy to see visitors and is a mine of information about all the local attractions. Highly recommended!

I had been to Puente del Pilar in July and had such an incredible experience. I loved every minute of my time there and when the opportunity came up to go back to Spain for just 4 days in October I had to go back to Puente del Pilar! And this time was even better than the last. The warm and friendly staff made me feel like I was apart of the family. The food was delicious, the rooms were clean and comfortable and it really was another dream vacation. I highly recommend this special little place!
