“Absolutely stunning views, beautiful area, comfortable accommodation.”
Reviewed 29 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

The views from the front of the property are to die for and it is worth staying here for the views alone! Sala Comacina is a very pretty village in probably the prettiest part of the lake, with lovely little swimming places, narrow streets and alleyways, an amazing butcher, a few other shops, restaurants and friendly people.

The apartment did what it said on the tin: it was clean, comfortable, simply equipped and furnished, but it had everything we needed. We particularly appreciated the king size double bed in the main bedroom, BBQ and the excellent washing machine. The apartment is in a complex with a shared pool, but we found that there were never more than 2 or 3 other groups by the pool and swimming in the lake was fantastic.

The approach to the apartment was not particularly easy with a large estate car, but the garage parking was fantastic as it was safe and kept the car cool. The quickest walk into the village was down steep steps and along the busy road for about 5 minutes, not for the faint hearted, but easier than trying to drive.

Helen was really helpful with the booking and provided some excellent information on local things to do etc. It was also fantastic to be greeted by the caretaker, who showed us to the apartment and explained how things worked (we came across another English family later in the week, desperately trying to find their apartment in the same complex, with some appalling instructions from their agents.)

If we were to return to this area, we would probably book the apartment again, it is a good base from which to explore the area.

Thank you for reviewing our property. We do our best to answer people's queries as quickly and as thoroughly as possible, in this instant perhaps language was a problem. We are sorry if the apartment did not meet with your expectations, we have not had complaints before. The kitchen was not listed as having a microwave and there are 2 or 3 Italian espresso makers in the apartment each one able to make 3 or 4 cups of espresso coffee. We have now put a nespresso machine in the kitchen. In the kitchen cupboards there are usually some basic foods such as pasta, coffee, tea, sugar, herbs and spices etc. these are generally left by previous guests and are generally found useful by most people. We ourselves tend to not leave any food there. We are a family of 5 and often have family/friends to stay at the apartment. The table will easily seat 6 and if you use the smaller chairs- more! We bought new chairs last year to go with the table and have retained some of the older ones as extras. The apartment was not advertised as having wifi, free wifi is available at several places in the village. We have got several brooms and a dustpan and brush and since we do not have carpet have not felt the need to have a vaccum cleaner.
Unfortunately the bed had to be temporarily mended after some previous guests had broken it this summer. We have since replaced it.
We have always told people about access to the village and how it is down a steep staircase /road so people with any mobility issues are advised not to stay,
Lake Como is surrounded by mountains and the villages are perched on the side of these so the roads are often windy and steep and the houses tend to be on the side of the mountains and have fairly steep descents down.
Lake Como is busy as are most holiday destinations in August. Parking all along the lake road can be tricky but with patience you can generally park. We have a large estate car and have no problem . As a matter of interest we contacted one of our guests prior to you who informed us that they have a Audi Q7 and that they had no problems with access to the apartment and parking.
The oven in the kitchen is by no means old and we apologise if you found it to be dirty, we have since spoken to our cleaners accordingly.
We were also surprised that 2 double wardrobes were not sufficient as they more than accommodate our family of 5 for longer stays.

Thank you again for your review.
