The location was great for me and my boyfriend, close to the city/restaurants and the beaches, but without disturbing noise.
We had an one room apartment room. Perfect size for us two. (bonus: free AC!)
We had the breakfast at the hotel, it was good. The coffee could have been better but overall fresh food.
We never hung out at the pool since it was quite small and a lot of screaming kids.. so I recommend the beach "Lambi", about 1,5 km from the hotell but it was the best service, free sun beds etc..
All the personal was super friendly and easy going!
The only minus was that the towels and beddings never got change during our stay (1w) and the pillows was not very comfy..

We have just returned after a wonderful 2 week stay at the Phillipion, we travelled as a family of 4 with 2 teenagers.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist, our apartment was larger than expected with a lovely sea front view with a huge balcony, the apartment had everything you needed including an iron, hairdryer and all kitchen utensils.
We had maid service every day, bedding and towels changed every 2 days.
The Air con was great with temperatures reaching 40 degrees every day it was lovely to relax in the room and cool down.
The pool area was well maintained and the bar staff were more than helpful, with an added touch of providing free slush drinks every day.
We ate in the restaurant on a couple of occasions for breakfast and an evening meal, both were lovely.
All staff and manager were friendly and extremely helpful.
The location of the apartments were ideal, only 5 min walk into Kos town, if you didn't want to go into the town there was also a lot of choice of great restaurants within close vicinity of the apartment.

I can't fault the Phillipion and would return again

Such a lovely hotel, I agree with some reviews that' it's not perfect but who could tell what would happen during our stay. Room was good and clean, awesome view of the Aegean Sea.
Relaxed and enjoying the Greek hospitality then BANG.
It's a word that I never thought I would write about on trip advisor. Earthquake!!!
Wow it's a life changing moment but this hotel took all of its power and barely blinked.
Our room bounced as did we, scary stuff and a nightmare.
The night was long and many afterhshocks were horrible, the hotel staff provided blankets and water.
The hotel was the only one on the street to maintain power, a testament to its builders.
A Huge thank you to Ellen the receptionist she was truly amazing and so calm, she took control and kept her head. I hope she gets a big bonus for keeping 150 guest calm.
Kos is a beautiful island and this hotel is great.
Don't let the media reviews put you off it was an act of god and Greece is on an active plate line as are many popular holiday destinations.
This could happen anywhere at anytime.
Loved our week and would go back anytime.

This was our second visit to the Phillipion and while we had had an uninspiring room on the ground floor the hotel passed all the tests we usually set for staying in Greek hotels (and we have experienced a fair few over the years) The beds were comfortable, the pillows were soft and not like house bricks and the shower provided an ample and constant supply of hot water, There is a good Asian retaurant attached to the hotel which came in handy one night when it rained and we didn't want to venture to town. Kos town is vibrant and colourful and the hotel is a convienent ten minute walk away. While there is litte beach as such it is only a couple of minutes from a beach bar called the Avra Project. We plan to go back again next year but hope for any room that isn't on the ground floor.
The free wifi works well but the cleaning of the rooms could have been a little more thorough

Room Tip: avoid rooms on the ground floor if possible.

Visited the Nama restaurant in our hotel! The hostess was very friendly and helpful in helping pick what to eat. We had salmon and crab sushi to start which was delicious and came on a boat style presentation. 3/4 if our party had never had sushi and we really enjoyed it! We then had our Chinese mains we had chicken and pork szechuan and pineapple duck and rice! Then followed by Nama sweet rolls which were chocolate pancakes filled with fruit and Philadelphia. We have never seen anything like it before was like a work of art! 10/10 for everything! The restaurant is close to castle 5 mins and only place in kos town to get authentic sushi and Chinese food! Must visit!
