The resort facilities ,rooms ,staff are very good.Everyone went out of there way to make our stay pleasant.the resort is for you if you want a quiet relaxing pool centred holiday, which we did,if you want lively its not for you.We had 2 negetatives firstly the resort should not be called Hua Hin as it is 30min away and secondly I feel the food and drink prices were too high which caused the evening exodus to beach bars close by.Excellent breakfast at hotel

We picked this hotel (via an agent) as it seemed to offer the best of both worlds - a tranquil setting away from the crowds while at least being relatively close to Hua Hin. After all, it is called "Evason Hua Hin" which gives you the impression of proximity.

Indeed, the grounds are lovely with ponds, including the occasional turtle and bittern, and organic growing areas. Our room was clean and well laid-out with a nice balcony and the staff nearly always greet you warmly. The rear area of the hotel faces the sea and there is a strip of sand which you can sit on, across a non-busy road, in addition to the pool area (sometimes noisy) and grounds. There is no beach as such by the hotel although if you walk a few hundred metres to the south there is a decent stretch of beach, along with a few restaurants and a small but useful grocery shop. So overall the tranquil aspect is catered for quite well.

However, the hotel is actually 13 miles (21 kilometres) outside the centre of Hua Hin (I just measured it on Google Earth) and this is in a straight line. In order to get there by road involves, I would guess, at least another 5 miles. Therefore to have Hua Hin in the name of the hotel is a strange choice. According to Google Earth the closest town is Pak Nam Pran. Why not change the name of the hotel to Evason Pak Nam Pran??

No doubt I should have checked the map more carefully before booking but, in any case, there is a shuttle bus running several times daily to Hua Hin and any decent hotel provides this service free, right? Wrong. For two people it costs approx. £20 return. Therefore on the couple of occasions we went into Hua Hin we used a local taxi service which worked out at about £14 return.

I have to say that we found the breakfast to be excellent, a very wide choice of pastries, cereals, juices, waffles etc. etc., although few newspapers were to be be seen. Approx. every other day a member of staff approaches you to see if you want to go along to a barbecue or similar (approx. £20 per head). I think a leaflet in one's room would suffice for the marketing drive, rather than interrupting your breakfast.

There is a room with free internet access and 2 computers. You can also access free wifi in the vicinity of this room and around the reception area. However there is no free wifi in the rooms, only a wired service which you have to pay extra for. Not very good in these days when you expect free wifi in such a hotel.

The room had a very pleasant natural design in terms of colours and materials. It was generally quiet although with about three days left we were very surprised and disappointed to hear noise coming through the (locked, thankfully) adjoining door from the next room. Everything could be heard from wardrobe doors to beeping safes. Presumably the room had been empty before this as we hadn't heard anything prior to this day. Also the occupants were far from noisy as such, but still the sound was more than evident.

We complained and were immediately upgraded to a studio room in another wing, on the ground floor facing the sea. Sadly the duvet had a dark stain on it (wouldn't like to guess what from) and much sound could be heard from the room above. Also the balcony door had a rather flimsy lock and there were steps up to the balcony from the area near the pool and road. Therefore I was worried about safety, especially as the hotel security guards didn't seem to patrol the road at night.

We eventually decided to move back to the original room and make the best of it, including a makeshift sound-proofing effort of putting the lounger mattress against the adjoining door.

The food in the restaurants was a bit pricey compared with local fare, but the quality was much better so we didn't mind paying the extra sometimes. We were surprised that there wasn't more vegetarian food on offer in a place billing itself as pro-nature, although they can do the meat dishes as vegetarian versions when requested.

Also, given its eco-friendly ethos, we were surprised that there are no solar panels given the level of sunshine there.

In our last couple of days there was a business conference taking place at the hotel. This involved business types pacing about in and around the bar talking into mobile phones, which sadly was exactly the kind of thing we wanted to avoid by going to this hotel. It was rather distracting.

In the spirit of being constructive I filled in their questionnaire before leaving and handed it to reception. I stated many of the points above. I ticked the box requesting an email response to my points and duly provided my email address. Unfortunately, as you've already guessed, I have received no reply. I hope at least they took note of one comment which was to give recognition to our excellent room attendant, Jai.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor rooms and rooms with adjoining doors

Dear DH_5000,

Many thanks for your very constructive comments and review above. Please do rest assured that all questionnaires that are returned at the resort are read aloud to the entire team every day and all departments take note of where we have done well and where we need to improve.

We aim to be carbon neutral in by 2020 and by then, who knows we might have solar panels in place, it would certainly help on the electricity bill!! For the time being, they are a little on the pricey side!!

Many thanks once again, and even your post will be circulated to all of the teams.

With regards,

I have just returned from 2 weeks at this great hotel.!!
We finally arrived after a long journey to Bangkok, via Qatar, and then over 3 hours on the road to the hotel!! But it was worth it.

I have never been to a place before where I did practically nothing. We usually rest for a couple of days and then get trains, internal flights etc to see the sights. This time we rested for a few days and 12 days later were still resting!!

There is no getting away from the fact that the rooms do need a bit of a refurb and are looking tired, but this did not deflect from the fact that the place is great. All the staff are so friendly and can not do enough for you. The rooms are spotless and the grounds are just wonderful. The rooms (and we stuck with the basic room which was absolutely fine) had cotton bathrobes, a beach bag and umbrellas (which unfortuntaley we needed!) there was dispensers of shower gel, body lotion shampoo etc, which was lovely fresh natural stuff.

The breakfasts were to die for! I could have spent 2 hours a day on breakfast. Loads of food stations with everything you could want. The bread is baked fresh every day as are the cakes and pastries. You really must try the almond croissant!!

We only eat once on the evening in the hotel. I can really recommend the Very Good Restaurant. Go out to the beach road and turn right and keep going until you reach it on the right. Food was exceptional and so cheap. We did eat a couple of times at the good view (few doors down from the very good) but preferred the very good.

Hotel has bikes to hire, and roads are really quite so it is quite safe.

Went into Hua Hin a few times by taxi from the people along the beach road. It was 600 baht and they waited 3 hours for us to return.

Once again, a great place and I cannot remember when I last enjoyed a holiday so much.

Thanks to the staff at the hotel who spotted my husbands birthday cards and brought round a birthday cake on the night and sang happy birthday to him!

Room Tip: Rooms in block 600 had more sun. We were in 400 block and there was a lot of trees so the room and...

Dear BJWR7,

Excellent review for which I thank you! It's great to read so many good reviews today and to finish on yours was a high. I'm thoroughly glad that you had a terrific time at the resort and that we have changed your 'norm' of getting itchy feet!

We are slowly working our way through the rooms, touching up here and there but at the moment we are keeping them spotless, clean and comfortable.

Breakfast, I too agree that it is one of the best breakfast buffets around. Everything is produced in our own kitchens and we have a special machine just for the croissants (They're dangerous by the way as you can't just stop at 1!)

Join our facebook page to be kept up with the latest and possibly we will look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

A Fabulous hotel, great food and fantastic spa - even our teenage children loved it although there was nothing especially for teenagers. Only downside is that it's 30 mins from the town of Hua Hin which we hadn't realised when booking so very few options to eat out elsewhere, just a few basic beach bars/restaurants.

My family and I have just returned from the most wonderful half term break at the Evason, Hua Hin. Whilst it is undoubtably a long way to go for a week we could not recommend it highly enough. The hotel is without doubt one of the best we have stayed in; a beautifully thought out, spacious and tranquil retreat. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were attentive but discreet. We loved our room, having upgraded to an Eavson studio when we arrived, whilst our daughters stayed in the standard room and were very happy. We were staying on BB basis, the breakfast we can recommend heartily. There are a number of places to eat in the evening; we liked Singi Beach Bar, turn left outside the hotel and its the first restaurant on the road side.
We did eat in the hotel on a few occasions, the food, every time, was fantastic. The only thing to beware of is the price of wine.... extremely expensive!!!
Overall a superb place to relax and unwind, visit the spaaif you get the chance, bliss!

Room Tip: Studio rooms are lovely, especially the beach view ones

Dear Ros60,

Thank you for taking the time to put finger to keyboard and update us about your recent stay. I'm glad that you had a great time with your family.

Wine.... yes it is expensive all over Thailand, even in local supermarkets. For some strange reason they can make their own Whiskey in Thailand and sell it for THB80 a bottle but when it comes to imported or their own grown wine, it's taxes over 300%! We all struggle with that one!!

Once again, thanks for sharing your comments, come back and visit us anytime!
