Maldives…...who would not dream to spend even only a single day of his life in this paradise? I have done it and I have been so lucky to do it with my wife Sun Island Resort. An adjective is enough to describe this resort and its island: amazing.
The resort lays on Nalaguraidhoo, one of the biggest island of Maldives: it is approximately m 1600 LONG and m 350 large
Rooms are comfortable, clean, huge and the beach literally at the doorstep: all the room typologies are excellent, but in my opinion the water bungalows have the disadvantage not to have the direct access to the beach.
The main restaurant offer you the classic buffet service, with both continental and the traditional cuisine of the area (Southern India, Sri Lanka, Maldives). Unluckily, most of the dishes if the continental cuisine are a little bit cold due as in many self service restaurants: for this reason I suggest the typical cuisine that is always warmed in ceramic pot over hot flame. Dessert selection is great. The resort has other restaurants: I recommend GURAAMULI BBQ where a huge selection of fresh fish can be grilled at the moment.
Cuisine is the weakest point in the global valuation of the structure, in my opinion: I suggest to the management for the main restaurant to offer more simple local fresh fish and less European and American tastes.
We chose this island because is one of the widest in the whole archipelago. There are so many things to do if you do not want to spend all your day on the beach that is almost impossible to be annoyed. You can rent a bike at the reception to move and discover all the hidden corners of the island: you will see animals, flowers, plants and many more curious and interesting things that will help you to understand how an island in middle of nowhere works. The resort offers many sport activities: diving, snorkeling, surfing, volleyball, football etc…. We are divers so that we tasted the diving sport facilities: excellent excursions, excellent staff, excellent equipment.
All staff from the guys at the reception to the ones who arrange the bedroom are kind, discreet and always helpful.
Marvelous landscape, white sand, palms, deep blue sea: leave at home all your electronic devices (mobile, tablet, etc..) and enjoy a fantastic holiday at Sun Island Resort.

We visited here in 2008 and had the most amazing holiday not sure what the resort is like now .
But just to let you know the resort isn't as bad as people make out .
We had a sea transfer from male its a must the views are amazing cost more than a boat tranfere but the boat transfers take alot longer so worth paying the extra for the view and less time .
Got to the island were welcomed with cold towels and coconut water was refreshing as was a warm day .
We booked full board but when we arrived we then paid for all inclusive as is cheaper than doing it with your travel company.
Our first room was a beach bungalow on the far side of the island I wasn't happy with this as there was only a tiny bit of beach and then rocks so not a scenic part .
We had our room changed to a much better part of the island would say it was a garden bungalow a little walk from the beach about 1 Min the beach on that part was amazing . We went snorkeling and seen the most amazing coral and tropical fish .
The rooms are standard nothing special but not bad either clean comfy bed clean bathroom and shower in the garden . was nice .
Most days the beach was empty so was lovely just sitting there was paradise
The food is great alot of variety and something for everyone .
We had a fab waiter and a fab guy at the bar too everyone is friendly.
We stayed for a whole 2 weeks and we didn't want to leave this was our last holiday before we had children . We have booked Maldives again for our 10 year anniversary next year but we have chose a different island this time as we don't like going to the same holiday resorts .
But u can't go wrong with this island amazing paradise .

We went to Maldives for the first time and stayed at this resort. Great place, good food and beautiful location. Facilities are good and one can have a really memorable vacation here. The water bunglow is the best. Other options are similar. A little costly but great vacation. You enjoy every bit of the island if you travel on a bicycle. Snorkelling is divine.

Room Tip: Choose water bunglow even if costly for a great experience

We have been to sun island as our honeymoon vacation on 22 july 2015 to 28.
We checked in a suprior beach bungalow which is the perfect choice because its much more better than the delux room and directly upon the beach .
The rooms with garden are in the middle of the island without beach view at all so donot make a reservation in it .
The water bungalows are slightly separated and a little bit isloated from the rest of the island .
They even have thier own restaurant .
So if you want to leave ur room and walk around the island and take a walk inside or along the beach it would be a little bit far away.
The suprioir rooms are ok with their amenities not perfect at all but u dont go to maldives to stick inside the room.
In the manaia restaurant which is the main restaurant the food was excellent
There were thai and Chinese and indean food plus the ordinary which any one would like 2 eat
Breakfast was more than perfect really.
The only bad thing is the over price that u have to pay in order to get a bottle of water ... 4.5$ and u only get one small bottel per person everyday which can not help u really through the day.
There are an italian restaurant which you can have dinner or launch if you dont want to dine in the manaia .
The prices in the italian is good not too much at all .... we have celebrated our anniversary there and it was amazing to dine over the water under the stars ... it was really great.
The staff is helpful. .. the roomboy was ok he brought us a fruit basket and a bottle of wine as a honeymooners gift but when he knew we dont drink he offered to change the wine with a large juice bottle.
We cant give any note about drinks as we dont drink.
There are a shark feeding show and sting ray fish feeding show that u have to watch and after sting ray fish feeding is finished dont leave ... as quite awhile crabs will show up.
The water sports are a little bit expensive
But u may choose acc to ur budget
We had a catramani sailing for 2 hours at sun set fo 86 dollars.
Snorkeling is also a something that you have to do with no doubt.
After all i wish i have stayed more and definitely i would like to go there once again.
