As first time visitors, we didn't know what to expect, but within minutes of arriving at Split airport, we knew that the Croatians are friendly, helpful people. Apartments Obzor, like many on the island of Ciovo - joined by bridge to Trogir - are perched above the Adriatic and really only accessible by car. Ana Bobas, the owner, made us very welcome in our well built, extremely clean and well equipped apartment. For families and the elderly, we would recommend the flatter part of the island nearer Trogir where there are pebbly beaches. At Obzor however, we had peace, stunning views, excellent sea access and a small bar/snack bar - try the Obzor special pizza. The country is getting used to being a tourist venue again, but many of the residents and all of the young speak good English. Taxis are rare out of town, but there are good connections by bus. Visit the old town in Split for some serious history and architecture but generally prepare to chill out, eat superb seafood and enjoy good wines at silly prices.
