We spent a week at the hotel in one of the air conditioned rooms. The room was clean and catered well for our requirements with our one year old. Staff were friendly and many of the guests seemed to know them as if friends. Although certain areas could use a modernizing revamp, we had a wonderful time and will certainly return. The dinner and breakfasts are something to look forward to.

We stayed here for 5 days in a timeshare unit (B4). This unit has an amazing large balcony and all rooms have beach views. The resort is really nice with a lovely beach and tidal pool on your doorstep. The restaurant serves delicious curries. There is a jungle gym for children and a spa.

The unit is nice and large with ample space. The kitchen is fully fitted and all appliances work.

The negative for the unit is the general state of the bathrooms and cupboards. Unit could do with some maintenance.

The resort is advertised as a tranquil beach resort but doubles as a wedding venue.

Kids had fun during the day but come late evening the grounds where booked for a wedding which had really loud music pass midnight. Also with the unruly large wedding crowd the kids can't even leave the room

Best will be to ensure that they have no weddings booked before you confirm booking

An incredible "oldy worldly hotel" yet with all modern amenities. The staff ,many whom have been there forever are brilliant. Led by Dean (GM) , Ravi front desk , Johan food and beverage plus Debbi, Mandy, Jane , Nishal and the fantastic workers make this truly a place away from the corporate life.
Under the overall control of the Hulett family a very special oasis in our busy lives.
The famous curry is worth a visit on its own.
The Salt Rock Hotel has to be number 1 out of all the hotels I have stayed in around the world. A true oasis!

Although it is an older hotel, the Salt Rock Hotel wears its age well and the most necessary updates needed (in the hotel lobby, dining room and each room's bathroom) have been done well. As expected in a hotel built decades ago, the rooms are large and all face the sea, the lower levels having their own balcony off the room. All have ceiling fans and air-conditioning, a must in the spring/summer months in KZN. Their breakfast buffet was varied, with great fresh and cooked options to cater for most dietary requirements. The bar is cosy and well stocked, and the hotel and restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating. All for a very reasonable rate, I will definitely be back to visit the beautiful, clean beach with amazing rock pools and sip cocktails by the lovely pool! Just not perhaps during peak times as it seems the hotel is very family oriented, which is not great for a romantic getaway...
