We've spent only 1 day and 1/2, in barerhinas.
We didnt booked activities but we read on trip advisor that Michael could help us à lot for that. Indeed, thanks to him, while we arrived at 7 pm on the  evening, he booked a quad ride for us in small lencois desert for tomorrow morning and a Private tour in lencois with à guide for our last 1/2 day. We didnt do any thing, he took in charge everyhting. And that's pretty cool !
Besides, you Will enjoy a boat ride. His pousada is on water front on the other side of the river and it's faster that he came to take you by boat. This is à very pleasant moment.
Dont hesitate to have dinner or even a small lunch there. It's simple but so delicious. I have not found another place in brazil with shrimps cooked like that. So yummy !
Bungalows are very great. Clean, big, well decorated. You have your intimity, given that there are only 4 bungalows.
I do recommend this place.

We had an excellent stay at this pousada. Given that it is located on the other side of the river from the main town, we were greeted by Michael after our arrival by bus and whisked off on a small speedboat journey to our destination - a great introduction!

Michael was very helpful in arranging our trips (both in the local area and our onward travel to Jericoacoara) and Josiane cooked some excellent breakfasts and evening meals for us.

Our room was spacious and clean and the pousada was a very peaceful place to relax when not on a trip (e.g. hammocks, access directly onto river for swimming, kayaks to take out on short paddles).

Definitely one of our best pousada stays during our visit to Brazil

Just confirming everything that was said previously...the place is beautiful, relaxing; the rooms are very charming and the food Josiane cooks is (almost) the best in Maranhao...it was a great pleasure to stay there.

This is the best place if you visit the Lencois sand dunes.

The location is scenic and relaxing by the riverside.

The rooms have air conditioning and are spacious.
Try the fish accompanied with fried beans and rice.

The hosts are fantastic, they organised our trip to the sand dunes and our transfer from/to Sao Luiz.

Would recommend highly for a break away from all the buzz

We chose to stay here for three nights, based on reviews we read on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Everything was beyond our expectations. Michael picked us up as arranged, and we arrived at the B & B in time for a delicious lunch cooked by Josiane. This was the first of many excellent meals.

Our spacious chalet was well decorated, with a very comfortable bed and was spotlessly clean. The hammock strung on our porch was great for an afternoon siesta on our first day as we recovered from the journey from Sao Luis.

For my husband and I the location was great as we walked into town and back along the back road everyday, and were able to appreciate the 'neighbourhood'. This allowed us to see some of the activities of the villagers, and the crops growing in the small farms and gardens we passed along the way. We were also able to use the free ferry and shop in the local stores on the road into town. At night when the puddles were large and the mud thick we took a moto-taxi to the ferry and arranged for the driver to pick us up at the ferry at an appointed time for the return ride to the B & B.

Michael arranged trips to the Lencois by 4 X 4 and to Cabure by boat. Both excursions were very exciting and interesting and well worth it. Our next stop in our Brazilian journey was to Piripiri, the access point to Parque Sete Cidades. We hired a 4 X 4 vehicle (absolutely necessary) to get us over the Lençois Pequenas and onto a very very rough road to Paulino Neves. A car was waiting for us there to take us the rest of the way on a paved road to Piripiri. All of this was skilfully organised by Michael.

Michael and Josiane are great hosts and they made our stay in the area perfect. Nothing was too much trouble. We thank them profusely.
