“No show,No communication...NO FISHING”

Lanzarote Fishing Club
Reviewed 30 December 2016 via mobile

We bought a family trip as a Christmas gift for our 3 boys and myself.Persuaded by the rep and assured Tino is the best on the island, despite our initial reluctance after reading poor reviews.
So arrives the day of the BIG GAME FISHING.We awake at 7am for an arranged pick up at 8am.After waiting around for an hour and a half at the arranged meeting point, unable to contact Mr Garcia,we finally made contact with the (reassuring rep). After more waiting around while the rep attempted to contact Mr Garcia ,we were eventually informed the trip had been cancelled. The rep confirmed that Mr Garcia had made no attempt to contact her to inform of the cancellation and despite taking several contact numbers,he certainly made no attempt to contact any of us.A CHRISTMAS GIFT TRULY RUINED.

I have written this review a year later after another trip this year to give a fair comparison

We set of from Puerto Calero trolling but without any luck. December is not the best month for big game fish so not the crews fault. We stopped for bottom fishing, the equipment was poor, the reels were very jerky in operation and you would struggle to land a fish with a reel like that. I was told to sit on the side of boat that leads from stern to bow, very squashed in and am quite small. Lunch was some pasta and a beer. No one caught, we moved to another spot and still no one caught. Trolling on way back produced a small Barracuda on a rod. Crew did not seem keen to reset the rods but did so reluctantly after some pressure. Reeled them in ten minutes later and that was that.

I have been on the Mizu twice 2013/2014 and going again in October 2016 and will be booking 1 maybe 2 trips with them. Always found the crew friendly, knowledgeable and helpful in all aspects of the day out.Not really caught much but hey that`s fishing.Forget the bad reviews of them i went on a boat in Gran Canaria last year now that was bad. Tino and the crew are great and i can`t wait to go again. Just hope the boat isn`t that full so it increases my chance of catching.

We booked our day out through our holiday rep at about 65 euros, ouch! We were collected from our hotel as part of the deal. The boat was loaded with plenty of big sport fishing gear and looked great, we spent 2 hours travelling whilst towing huge lures supposedly to attract big fish, we then anchored up and fished for about 50 mins with everyday small gear 3 small fish were caught, whilst fishing we were served lunch of pasta, which was quite tasty. Up anchor and trail the big lures back to port. As a fishing trip it is a waste of money, but we were fortunate on our day we saw a whale and lots of dolphin. During the trip we were provided with some cans of beer which was welcome. When we got back we were not offered a return to our hotel.
Our skipper for the day was a really great guy, but seemed more interested in sightseeing.
As a sightseer it was great, as a fisherman it was a waste of time and money.

Just to say we have just returned from Lanzarote and I can totally confirm the 100% accuracy of William R from Manchester;s report (see the reviews before this one). We are a family of 5 so some 350 euro later (5 fishing but only charged 50 euro for youngest) after the trip being highly recommended to us as we had wanted to sea fish in Tenerife last year and got ripped off and so explained to the excursion lady (who was from Wales) that we wanted to make sure we went out with someone who was genuine and interested in us catching fish, she put us onto Tino and Mizu fishing. Don't part with your money unless you are happy to be disappointed and part with that amount of money for a boat trip. We weren't even offered water in the baking sun.
