Owner description: The longest lavatunnel i all of Europe, with more than 18 km now explored. A vulcanic tunnel that now has caused scientific interest, because of the cocroach born without eyes. An absoultely amazing experience to get a guided tour into this underground vulcanic world. Highly recommended for those who want to experience something different in this beautiful island.

Obviously we did not travel that far, but it certainly felt at times like that, although we were apparently never much more than 5m underground.
We started out with a very informative 15 - 20 minute briefing about types of lava (Karla our guide gave an interesting description - I am not going to divulge it here though) and lava caves in general and specifics about the tubes in Tenerife.

After a short drive followed by a walk to the tubes, we entered the underground system to explore, see and experience, what we learned above ground. There is just nothing compared to feeling and seeing this first hand. We stopped at important points of interest and were given sufficient opportunities for photographs.

The team is very keen to ensure that the tourists get a good insight into the volcanic history of Tenerife and the lava tube system, but they do keep visits to small groups to limit the environmental impact.

Do follow the website’s advice and come prepared, eg warm clothing and proper footwear, you will need it.

Thank you Karla for giving us such a knowledge tour.

Thank John R

We booked in advance (as requiered), but once on the place they refused to let us go because they judged our footware to be inappropriate. It were trecking sandals which were made to be used on rough ground, but they could not be convinced and did not let us go.

So far, this might be ok because it's their decision - but it is an absolute no go that they don't give back the money! So they took 20 € from each of us (2 persons) and giving absolutely nothing in return!
We had to fill out a piece of paper which was meant to be sent so somewhere to let us get our money back, but (of course) - nothing!
I emailed twice, but no reaction!

So, I am not very amused about this company...

And for those of you who are geocachers: You can head to GC4JXYR to visit a lava tube for free (what we did afterwards). With our tracking sandals...

We really liked the way the cave was presented, small group with helmets and a lot of information from a knowledgeable guide.

This was a great experience. You will learn a lot about volcanos and how the Canary Islands were formed over millions of years. There is detailed information about the geology of Tenerife and the area, and there is a guided trip up to and into the caves. This is not a difficult tour, and the guides are always friendly and helpful, and the group feels like friends exploring together.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit which was informative and varied. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and we left with a much better understanding of Tenerife volcanoes than when we arrived.
