This was our first eating excursion off the resort for food and what a great experience.
We had the "all you can eat chicken plate". It had heaps of yummy potatoes, the biggest corn cob I have ever seen, salad and more that half a chicken.....They came back to see if we wanted more.....Indeed.!..we had take home chicken which did for the next days lunch. Great place to eat and value for money......It gave us the nerve to go out and eat at the night time markets....

My wife and I went to have lunch at the Out of Africa Barbeque restaurant. We visited the branch at the North end of Chaweng beach which is located on a steep downhill part of the road as you come round the bend. (We cannot speak for the other branches).
The restaurant was empty (which we should of taken as a warning sign). There was about 3 staff there and they were all very nice and very pleasant. The problem however was the food. We ordered the spare ribs and when it came it was warm on the outside and quite cold on the inside. They served us leftover spare ribs from the freezer that was probably cooked a few days previously. The ribs were not freshly cooked on the bbq. We basically ate old ribs that were taken out of the fridge/freezer and heated in the microwave (it was not even heated up properly). We were very dissapointed with this and tried to explain this to the waiter but he did not really understand english. What a dissapointment as we had really been looking forward to visiting this restaurant. I advise other tourists to be careful of visiting this restaurant especially if they are not busy as they are unlikely to cook fresh food on the barbeque if there are not many customers. As a rule, always check with the restaurant first before ordering, if the food will be prepared fresh on the BBQ.
