After a poor night the day before this was a lovely surprise. A beautifully decorated hotel attached to a Camino bunkhouse. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The dinner was perfectly adequate for weary walkers and included the wine. We slept so well we were one of the last down for the breakfast buffet, again very good. My husband wanted a detour on our way back to Santander to be able to stay again. Maybe next year.

Room Tip: Lovely views at the front

We had a wonderful room with a sitting area, large bathroom and large bed. The hotel is old and very beautiful. It sits up in a hill and has a nice view. Breakfast and dinner were both very nice. Breakfast was included and we paid for dinner. There was an outside sitting area and albergue plus small area to buy snacks and a meal. Lovely lovely hotel and room.i could stay here for a week!

Comfortable, clean, quiet and views. Staff were always friendly even though the hotel was full. Chiquita the dog is friendly and likes a pat. Great history and sitting areas, good food for reasonable price too, with a discount for pilgrims.

From the moment we walked in till the time we left, early the next morning, we felt completely at ease in this hotel. Just as you know you like a house when you step in the door, so too was it here. We had a spacious bedroom and a large bathroom. After our walk on the Camino, we had a drink in the cafe/bar and relaxed in the cool of the room. The Pilgrims 'menu del Dia' was very acceptable with a choice of five starters, five mains, two desserts and bread, wine and water for €12 a head. The dining room was buzzing and it was lovely to be in the company of 30 or so other diners. Breakfast (a quieter affair) was also very good indeed. Can only wish this place many happy years of continued success.

This place was really fantastic, an oasis before the climb to San Juan de Ortega and the paved hell that is the last 10-15 kilometers to Burgos. That being said, there is no possibility of five stars without at refrigerator for the peregrinos.
