Its a pity when you get a restaurant, or anywhere else come to that, which is so nearly great but just doesn't quite make it. This place looks good. the service was efficient, if a little brusque, the wine was perfectly fine.
Starters, brilliant. They do a prawn and chickpea dish that is just about perfect, and the desserts were wonderful too. I had a chocolate tart with Sechuan sauce that I'd go a long way to taste again.
But the main courses, no. My partners was OK. Plain but ample. I however made the mistake of ordering the Brochettes. These were barely more that a tapa in quantity, accompanied by only a bland sauce, and overcooked. Odd. It was as though a chef from a rival restaurant had sneaked in and sabotaged the main event.
