Initial phone call to inquiring about reservation and if they offer a full menu in light of Covid-19 was met with resistance and seem to annoy the call taker.
Outdoor seating only and they have a garbage can next to the table.
Owner served us.He was fine was us, but he was vocal about his displeasure with another couple as he walked past other patrons- Words I can not repeat!! This continued inside when I entered to use the rest room.
Sorry, but won't be back

Hi, thank you for your review.
In light of Covid, we have not been offering our full menu since March. Since outside seating is the only option at the moment,we are making due with what we have trying to maximize space as well as ensure distancing. The garbage can is bolted to the sidewalk. The owner, I couldn't have served your table as I am cooking your dinner. Its been a difficult few months and with ALOT of new protocols to adhere to, sometimes staff get frustrated. I appreciate you taking the time to write a review in these times.

We had received a gift card and had to go out and check out Babbos. We chose for the lunch Babbos didn't disappoint, despite some of the negative reviews below. The service was very friendly and professional. We ordered a few dishes such as the Arugula salad with roasted walnuts and a great dressing as well as the meatballs in tomato sauce. As a main we had two different excellent house made pastas. We shared a wonderful dessert: pear pieces in ricotta cake. What a lovely combination. Including tax and two alcoholic beverages we stayed with our 100 dollars gift certificate. Was it worth it? Definitely! Excellent food and value for money.

The only reason l am giving this a two is because of the quality of the service. I have been here any times to impeccable service and food. This time on Superbowl night the service was terrible. Distracted waiter unfriendly and a host who is usually amazing was not. I spoke to my daughter a few nights after the event and she agreed that there was something off with the staff. The food was great. Would l go back not sure. May not. Jojo sorry guys

Have been to Babbos many times but this was a first for a Friday night. One again the food was delicious and the service very good but the noice from the crowd was too much. Could hardly hear my friends talking which ruined the fun of getting together to catch up on news. Will go back again but probably not on a Friday. Maybe they should look into noice dampening options.

My husband and I live in Orleans and have been going to Babbos every 3 or 4 weeks for the past two years. Tonight we arrived just before 5 pm and requested a booth but the request was declined because we were two and possibly reserved for a 4. We have been told in the past the owner frowns on seeing the booth used for only 2 people. This time, no one ever arrived while we were there so what was the harm in ensuring your guest are comfortable?
We normally order a litre of house wine but tonight my husband requested a sample of their bottled Chardonnay that is sold by the glass. We were told the owner put a policy in place to no longer sample wine because its cost prohibitive. If it was a sample of wine sold only by the bottle, I get it, but this is the first time we asked for a sample and it was from a bottle sold by the glass. When we asked to speak to the owner our waiter refused to go get him saying he will get in trouble. He then said to us that the owner stopped giving tiramisu cake to all customers claiming it was there Birthday. We had to nearly beg then refused to give our order until we spoke to the owner. Finally one of the young chefs came to our table claiming to be the owner. He explained he directed his wait staff to no longer provide wine samples because if 5 customers one night make that request then that would be the cost of a glass of wine he had to absorb. He recommended we order any bottle wine to sample and if we didn’t like it, we return it because he gets full credit for any open bottle but not half bottles. How productive is that answer? No wonder your wine menu prices are more than other restaurants in Ottawa. I’m very disappointed of the operating choices this chef owner made. The operating decisions you made and cost you saved to not sample an ounce of wine has us question how transparent you are with your customers. We have in our possession $300 of gift cards we purchased from Costco but plan to return them tomorrow with explanation of our disappointment and will make alternate dining choices in the future. There are plenty of choices in Ottawa. We just wanted to be transparent with you. And wish you luck with your operating decisions.
