The Climb for K9 team met at this great lodge for the first and only Re-supply of the 230km Drakensberg Grand Traverse by our Climbers on 04 June. We were welcomed by the fantastic manager Brian and his team who quickly sorted out any confusions and additional logistics arrangements. Not only did the Lodge provide us with 3 of the immensely comfortable stone rondavels for free in support of the Climb for K9, but Brian threw in wine for dinner - how stunning! We had a magic time and the Climbers really enjoyed the generous braai and the rest before continuing their epic adventure.

Room Tip: The rondavels are very cozy and comfy when staff light the coal fires at night.

Stunning drive up the pass with breathtaking views, accommodation was comfortable, we stayed in a family unit, fireplace in the bedroom and complimentary hot water bottles were a treat. Dinner & breakfast were delicious and great choice available. Staff were friendly and we had the added bonus of snow! Recommend waking up early to watch the sun rise with coffee and rusks on the deck - perfect way to start your day!

Great 4x4 only ride up the pass. Area is desolate but the highest pub in Africa is a blast. Descent camping. Good internet. Yummy dinner. Highly recommend spending the night here are your way into Lesotho.

At 6h30 the waitress went to the bar to tell me that the supper was ready. My son was having a shower. " Do you wait for your son ?". " For sure". At 20h we are the last one they brought us the bill at the bar and they stopped the wifi. At 20H40 one guy ready to go took my glass. Do I feel still welcomed ? Not at all. I wonder where is the manager at evening. But when the only goal of the employees abandoned to themself is to close to go home at a time where every lodge and bar should be open the manager didn't teach them properly. It's why I won't come back in this place. Apart that everything was perfect but ...

Dear Guest

I sincerely apologize for the your experience. What you received was not the norm as we do not like to rush any experience. Our dinner in winter is served from 6.30pm but that is a guideline and by know means should you be forced upon you. Our bar does generally close at 10pm daily and the feeling that you received in (Please leave as we closing) is not what we practice. The manager in charged has been reprimanded and thank you for taking the time in giving us feedback, without this we could not attend to issues of dissatisfaction.

We ate the set menu for dinner at the Mountian Lodge. Food was flavorsome and there was a lot of it. Dinner costs R240, consisting of three courses. A Maluti beer cost R40 for a medium one. Bar area is warm with a lovely fire and there is a variety of alchoholic items to choose from.

The backpackers lodge cost R275 per person. The rooms are small, with bedding included. There are no electrical points available at all. The lounge has couches with a warm fire. If one needs the bathroom....it is a long walk to freedom.....in the cold as one leaves the one house and walks next door to use the kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen has all items needed to self cater (smells heavily of gas). The bathroom has toilets, basin and showers. It is advisable to shower at night as the pipes may freeze and no hot water in the morning we we told by reception. Bathroom basins don't look like they are regularly cleaned.

Room Tip: Rather have a drink at the bar and be out before the border closes , Alternatively pay R1640 and sta...
