We spent 2 nights in the Sunshine yurt with our 2 children (10&8). Larry transported the children and luggage in the tractor and trailer, which the kids enjoyed. The Yurt was fantastic with lovely little extras. We were very cosy with the woodburner lit. The swing and hammock were great additions. We loved having the 4 ponies in the paddock. It was a 5/10 minute walk across farmland onto open moorland. The Tavistock Inn was a 10 minute walk along a quiet country road. Larry and Wendy were very welcoming as hosts. A fantastic break to get away from it all.
Everything about this place was just brilliant! I couldn't fault anything, Wendy and her husband were lovely and so accommodating! 5*'s all around! Will definitely be going back :)
We stayed 6 nights in Sunshine Yurt with our two children. The yurt comfortably slept all four of us and was warm and much more spacious than camping. Our days were adventurous and fun and our evenings peaceful and relaxing.
The kids (and adults) switched off their electronics and got back to a simpler life.
Wendy and Larry and their dog Paddy were all very welcoming and helpful.
Day trips from the yurt were plentiful and great fun e.g. The Miniature Pony Centre, Kents Cavern, South Devon Railway, Torquay Beach, River Dart Country Park and swimming in Ashburton Outdoor Pool.
Stayed with my 2 boys, we loved every minute right from the start and the tractor ride down to the yurt. The yurt was beautifully maintained, the kitchen perfectly equipped. We only stayed for 2 nights so didn't brave the shower and the compost toilet didn't have much use - the cafes in Ashburton and the local pub benefited from the boys being squeamish about this.
Loved the horses, saw a deer, loved the fire pit, loved foraging for wood in the bluebell forest. A real break from iPads and iPhones. Will definitely be back.
It's hard to describe the initial beauty and tranquillity of the sunshine yurt and the attentive and friendly service we received from Larry and Wendy. With the beautiful Dartmoor National park a mere stroll away, the location is pure perfection. The yurt is not only perfectly heated in the evening by the log burner, but also has no electricity- only candlelight; giving it such a cosy and peaceful feel. Completely going back to basics but so comfortably. Will be visiting again very soon.
