We stayed for several nights while visiting family in the region. The hotel is in a recently renovated Chateau and it is gorgeous. The view from our room was breath taking. Dauphine, our hostess, was welcoming, pleasant and accommodating, and spoke excellent English, while good humoredly putting up with our attempts to speak French.

Breakfast was very nicely done, served either in the breakfast room or the terrasse, looking over Lac du Bourget with Aix-les-Bains on the opposite shore.
Queen Victoria stayed here, and by all reports WAS amused!

We ate at the gourmet restaurant one night with a 2-year old in tow, and they could not have been nicer to us!

The castle has been recently renovated and the bedrooms are all different with quirky, modern decoration. The views over the lake are just amazing and the full-length window in the shower in the Trappeur bedroom is an interesting experience. The bed was comfortable but European-sized so a little short if you are over 1m85. This is a restaurant with rooms, not a hotel in the traditional sense, so do not expect slippers, television, tea and coffee or minibar in the room. However the castle, the location, the views and the friendly staff are exceptional. A fabulous place for a romantic weekend.

Room Tip: The Trappeur room is spacious and has a shower with full length window and lovely view of the lake.

This summer Chateau de Bourdeau opened. The location is super hanging above the lake of Bourget, less known, but at least as beautiful as the lake of Annecy. A short walk down to the lake and you can dive into the lake. Inside it smells of freshly shaven wood. Pretty and creatively styled with eye for detail.

Room Tip: All rooms are designed in a theme. Ours was Belle Epoque with references to the beach everywhere. Very original and creative and luxurous. The view on the lake is perfect. Very thick walls make you feel you're the only one staying in your own chateau.
