We stayed in the pretty B&B room with fridge, tea/coffee facilities and free wifi, only found the bed a bit too soft. There is a separate toilet from the bathroom with washbasin and shower, everything was nice and clean. The hosts were really friendly and helpful, giving us advice on tourist attractions and chatting about our respective travels during the lovely breakfast served in their dining room.

We spent one night in the room attached to the main house. We were warmly welcomed and made very comfortable. The location is superb, the room has all that one could want, including free wi-fi. An excellent continental breakfast is served. There is not a wide choice of restaurants locally, but the excellent Copthorne resort five minutes walk along the beach has a good and varied menu.

We were here 1 night in August and I wish we could have stayed much longer! The place was very easy to find and even though it is by a main road you cannot hear any traffic. It was raining on and off through the day so we didn’t get to be outside as much as we would have liked. We had the B&B room which was connected to the main house. The room was large and a heater, electric blanket, hair dryer, and coffee/tea maker. The bathroom was outside of the main room but it was still private (2 separate rooms for toilet and bath tub/shower). It was chilly in the bathrooms as there was no heat there. From the bed you could pretty much see right down to the water. The views here were the best in our entire trip in NZ. We did the twilight footprints tour and just walked the beach to the other hotel and at night our guide dropped us back off at the B&B. The breakfast food was very good. The friendly owner sat down and talked with us the entire time; his wife just has surgery so we never met her. I would love to stay here on a nice, warm day.

Unfortunately we only had a one day brief stay but found the cottage to be very comfortable and warm (during a cold and wet July). It is a beautiful spot - we really want to return here during the better weather. The cottage was very clean, well furnished and fitted and has a wonderful, large new shower and basin. Can definately recommend a stay here.

My husband and I stayed one night in this lovely bed and breakfast for our Twilight Encounter tour with Footprints Waipoua. Doug and Leonie are wonderful warm hosts.

This B&B is much lovelier and charming than the pictures show. We took the B&B room on the ground floor connected to the main house. We had our own entrance door so you don't go through the house, and we had our own deck and terrace with a view of the sea!

Our room is very clean, nice and cozy with all the amenities you may need ... kettle with tea/coffee, biscuits and chocolate, heating blanket and heater, black out curtains, hairdryer, toiletries. They were being honest when they say the private toilet and bathroom are across the hallway ... but I would rather say it's one big bedroom with ensuite bathroom/toilet with the hallway belonging to your room, because it's left locked and nobody else goes there (it's just Doug and Leonie living in the house and they stay in the main house) so you can cross over to the bathroom in your PJs or wraparound towel with no fear of bumping into someone .. it's all very private!

The location of the house is the best! It is the last house on the beach, on the waterfront. From the room to the beach/water, you just cross about 20 meters of garden grass and you're there! There is no highway or main street in front of the house. The 'street' you see on the pictures is just the house driveway. And the main house is located away from the state highway (unlike Opononi Hotel which is directly on the street) so it is very quiet, you won't hear passing cars ... just the waves crashing. ( Also, since we had the Footprints Tour, we just walked on the beach to Copthorne Hotel. It's about only 200 meters away. Also had a nice dinner there after the tour. ) Continental breakfast is served at your convenience in the main house (fruit, toast, jam yogurt, cereals and coffee/tea. It was the warm company of Doug and Leonie that makes it extra special.

Omapere is beautiful. We loved it and wish we stayed longer in Mckenzies. Would have loved to see orcas and dolphins swim by from the deck.
