“Lovely Cottage”

Manifold is a lovely cottage in a great location. I recommend both the Charles Cotton Hotel and the Devonshire Arms for an evening out.

“Cozy cottage for 2, great location for walking.”
Reviewed 3 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Lovely cottage for 2 in quiet courtyard location yet near all local facilities in picturesque village of Hartington. Well equipped with comfy bed, helpful owner. Lots of information in the cottage on walks, things to do etc.... Around corner from Devonshire Arms, good local food, friendly service, but advise booking ahead. Good walks from village and easy access to variety of walks in wider area. Would visit again.

“Cosy and warm, a lovely base to explore the Peak District”
Reviewed 19 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Just returned from a fantastic stay - my wife and I loved the cottage. It was warm and clean, and had everything we needed for the week. Really cosy, it's tucked away, yet right in the middle of Hartington, and is a lovely retreat after a day of walking or local exploration. We went on many walks from the doorstep, as Hartington was an excellent base with pubs, a village shop stocked with great local produce, a cheese shop with a fantastic selection too and other quaint things to see... Bakewell, Chatsworth, Buxton, etc, are all an easy drive, not too far at all. Many thanks Frances and Patrick.

Lovely cottage with every attention to detail. However it is situated in the centre of the village but in a courtyard behind the houses and there is no view at all. Felt very cut off from the world.

Management Response
28 Apr 2016
Whilst we appreciate the two compliments about the property itself, we are obviously disappointed by your comments about the location, which therefore had the consequence of our cottage only meriting three stars. Yes, there are no views, being in the heart of this extraordinarily popular village but has the advantage of being in a private courtyard consisting of three cottage, so away from the hustle and bustle. In over 2000 bookings in these cottages during our ownership, no one has classified, whether in our visitors books, satisfaction questionnaires or review sites, the peace and quiet of the courtyard (what you describe as being cut off from the world) as a disadvantage, indeed we feature this very point in our advertising, both on our own web site and on this web site.

“Beautiful cottage, great location for exploring the Peak District.”
Reviewed 12 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Manifold is a very cosy cottage in the lovely village of Hartington. With a great pub almost next door, a handy village shop across the road and amazing cheese shop just a minutes walk. The location of Hartington is also great, 20mins to bakewell, 30mins to kinder scout or just walk straight from your door! Dove dale being a favourite of ours walking the 16mile round trip on our first day.. Despite their being a return bus! I highly recommend this cottage.
